Looking for year of manufacture on a Marlin 39-oct barrel-takedown-ser#HS1628..........and a S&W-.38spec-#K219934....Thank you.Marlin is in nice original condition-not a NIB showpiece.

the serial prefix of HS on the marlin would place its date of manufacture sometime between 1932 and 1939. but that's all the closer i could get... hope that helps a bit.

the HS prefix means hi-speed ammo is acceptable and recommended for use.

Thanks guys....he thinks his father bought the Marlin in 1936 for 15.00......At least once a year I have to threaten him with a good beating-he wants to Durocoat it...Finally I convinced him,every time he touches it-he touches where his ma and pa laid their hands.And to me thats what matters with original finish.
