was reading a milsurp magazine and there were plenty of articles on some older rifles.

saw one about using I guess? a laqured steel base that had the body ofthe cartridge made out of coiled brass foil.. vs a drawn brass cartridge.

guess they were having lots of head seperations upon extraction.

kinda scarry. I mean we worry about case ruptures even though there is a good chamber.. imagine a case made like that... of course.. probably way low pressure on old black powder cartridges.. etc..

makes ya wonder how that worked.. and not have ALL ofthem have case seperations.

also read the article on what sounded like caseless ammo for a french rifle.. a very odd, paper patched looking thing.. no real rimmed ( or rebated rim ) base I could see..

must've been fairly low power because some of those casings look like they'd blow apart with a small firecracker worth of powder.

in fact, come to think of it I think the little zip cannon I made as a teenager experimenting was stronger and safer.
