We had our black powder cartridge club challenge this weekend. Three competitors, and one rifle. The owner generously let us shoot his gun.

COF is five minutes to shoot two convertable sighters, then 30 minutes to shoot 10 rounds. 100 yards. The black part of the target is @ 8 inches in diameter (PL 7 target).

    The winner had a score of 94, with 3 X. I had a score of 93 with 1 X.

This was the competition I went to last year, not expecting to shoot because I don't have a black powder cartridge rifle. One of the competitors asked me if I would like to shoot his...What do you think? Of course. He had ten rounds left, enough for the competition and no more. I won with 97.

So this year he gets the trophy. Well, that's fine. I gave him a run for his money. He won. It was his gun!! Basically he and I have been trading the trophy back and forth for the last five years. It's all part of the fun.

Perhaps if I get my own black powder cartridge rifle, I can let someone else get in on the fun next year. I'm looking at one now that's affordable; I would like to try it out. I would need to get it added to my Fire Arms Certificate before I can buy it.

    This year's target...

Hmmm, I think BlackEagle could read the phone book and I would give it a like! Great to have a trophy swap among friends...

Handsome devil, but I thought you were taller..... :):)

Great Shooting! Nice rifle, too! Handled one of those once, and they are much heavier than I thought with that octagon barrel. Weighs about twice as my Trapdoor Carbine.

Now that I look at pictures of Remington Rolling Block rifles, I think you're right. My bad. Just shows to go you how much I know, or don't know!!

What I do know is that I had a great time with it.

    Thanks.

It's all good no matter who made that buffalo gun, you had a blast shooting it and that's the important thing :)
