I hope this is the right place to put this if not please move it mods. I have been wanting a good 22lr for a while now and came across the Mossberg 702 plinkster. Walmart carries them for $112 plus tax, which fits perfectly into my budget which is kind of tight. My needs are simple, I needed a .22 that was accurate enough to kill squirrels and rabbits at 75 yards. This gun exceeds that need very well. I get 1.5" groups at 100 yards. The gun is light but sturdy with a black plastic stock and blued 18" free floated barrel. The factory sights were good and worked great for plinking out to 50 yards but I wanted a little more. So I bought a Tasco 1-7x20mm scope and put on it. The scope is just right for the rifle in my opinion. So far I have run nearly 600 rounds of various kinds through it with only one FTF which turned out to be just a bad round (tried it in another little rossi .22). No jams or other issues, it just eats everything. It shoots best with the CCI Mini Mag 36 gr hollowpoints. This gun is proving devastating to varmints already. It destroys squirrels and blackbirds with one shot kills every time. And even proved itself wit an 80 yard groundhog kill the other day. All in all a great .22 at a great price. Will post pics when I get them on my computer.

You'll have to make the picture smaller.

Right click on the picture, and open it with Photo Gallery, if you have it. You can reduce the size there. You can also use paint.

I am going to order a 25 rounder for plinking purposes but the 10 works good for hunting. A second one would be nice though.

I have one that I bought for the wife, but she doesn't shoot much. So I scoped it with a Bushnell Sportsview scope from Walmart. Zeroed at 35 yards for the CCI quite ammo. This little rifle is now a dedicated squirrel hunting rifle. And I like it! It's light in weight, but more than accurate enough to make clean shots on squirrels out to 35 yards with the 710 fps ammo. And it's quite to boot! No, the CCI quite ammo will not cycle the bolt. That I have to do by hand.

They are definitely accurate! As for quiet, Im not too concerned with it as i live in the middle of nowhere and the squirrels are used to us shooting.

Around here if you shoot one with standard ammo the rest will run and hide. They still run form the sound of the quite ammo, but they don't run as far, nor hide for so long.

Around here half the time they just run to a tree and 5 minutes later they are back.

I bought one and fired it for the first time at my sons place. I liked how it shot. So did he. I was using reg 22lr ammo. I was surprised how quiet it was shooting. I was also firing a 22 semi-auto pistol and that sounded like a cannon using the same type of 22s. Now to take it to the range to zero in the sights. I see where Academy has the 25 rd magazine for $30.

Well, I guess I'll have to make a run by Academy! I only have the 10 rd. mag. that came with it.
