I smoked too much of that GOOD STUFF in my early years.
I got my scabbard today, I like it.
I ordered mine the day before you did, it is scheduled to show up on Saturday!
tedwitt, if you know, what exact metal (with admixtures) does it have?
Woo Hoo, I got mine yesterday!
Probably a government secret.
Both the KaBar and the pilot's knife used 1095 steel or similar.
I do know it is very hard to put an edge on.
TED: I believe REM1875 is 100% correct. I have a knife and sheath that say`s CAMILLUS N.Y. 8-1961 that is exactly like yours, with a saw blade on the back of the blade. And I got it from a Marine Corp Captain in 1972 in Viet Nam that was Helicopter Pilot like I was in the Army. He told me the knife was issued to him as part of His Survival Gear & Vest. He was going home and an thieving ARVN had just stole my knife. WE were good friends so He just gave to me. The knife has served me well all these years and I still have it. The Knife and I are defiantly Old Friends. Do You have any idea just what the knife is worth.
no Sir, I gave $1.00 for it at a yard sale about 30 years ago, it looked very neglected and I cleaned it up, oiled it and locked away till recently.
I need to find out how to shine it up.
Yes it has the saw blade.
