Harry Truman at heart was a lot more left than history makes him out to be. However, he did know the people and by and large tried to be President to our benefit. In 1948 when he was predicted to lose and, for those who study history the picture of Truman holding up The Chicago Sun Times with it headline, "Dewey Defeats Truman" is one of the great news photo's of the 20th century. In '48 Truman took his campaign directly to the people on a whistle stop tour of the nation. I forget the particulars but he spoke to a LOT of Americans. In a manner, Trump is emulating Truman in that he brings his case directly to us. All politics is local. If Trump takes his message to the people, he will win again.
