I bought a. 995 in parts said no receiver I thought I could just buy a receiver and I would have a great gun. I have found that is not the case. I sent the gun to Hi-Point to check it out. and get what ever it needs. the rep. said you have no receiver! I did not know what that was. So I said you are the manufacture can't I just buy one . He said no you must buy the whole gun.
I said I know that this part has the serial number so I said send it to my FFL and I will send it back to you. answer was NO Can't

I found out that this is done all the time they take that part send it to Hi Point and get a new gun.

I tried to buy an old GEN 1 and use that but now the price of them is as much as a new 995

If anyone can help me please let me know. I have 6 Hi Point gun's and this is my first problem. Hi Point is a great gun and should not be put in the Trash, When it is like new and only needs a PART.

thank you for your help. the part has the serial number so it is not sold by. it self. Hi Point Had the gun when I found out and I said I will buy it and send to my FFL and then return it to Hi Point.
They said NO
If I had an old Gen 1 gun or a damaged Gen 2 gun I can send them the part they will destroy the old one and give me a NEW ONE FREE. or I can just use the old one.

I know this is not going to help ME....But Hi Point and Kel Tec are Great Firearms companies. They are 100% "Guaranteed".
they are heavy and not a nice design BUT...they work great and if it breaks send it back and they will fix or replace it. that is why it is hard to get this part.
I have the Kel Tec Sub 2000 which is the same as the 995. but Smaller, Lighter, BUT COST MORE.

the receiver is the gun.. sounds like hi point won't sell just the reciever.. though if you had a damaged one.. I'm guessing they could replace it.

You simply bought a parts kit.... you didn't buy a gun.

I found out the Gov't said that if you buy the new part with a new serial number the legal way buy sending it to a FFL and getting it listed under your name it is OK. If that is the case I can not understand the problem. I offered that. if the dealer who bought the gun did that, this Problem would go away. I bought the parts for $100 and shipping $30 then spent $25 more to send to Hi Point.
then if I bought the receiver for $50 with shipping, I would be at over $200. (the price of a good used Gun! had I known I would have bought NEW. NOW I HAVE A PARTS GUN that Hi Point would give me for FREE. Also *** approves this. I am saying this so no one gets caught in this scam. Hi point could sell the part and stop this , **** could not allow it, but they do not !

Personally I do not see a scam here at all.

YOU bought a parts gun, minus the receiver which you claim to 'not know what the receiver was' so therefore it was a shortcoming on your part and not anyone else's - including Hi Point.

I suggest you take some time and study guns and their parts so you have an understanding of them before doing anything else.

There are some parts that manufacturers just won't sell. Regardless.
I ran into this when I called Hatfield to see if I could get a replacement barrel for my single shot 410. They said no. I could send them the gun paying shipping both ways. They would replace the barrel for $175. I said why the heck would I do that the gun is $99 brand new. I asked if they sell any replacement parts for any of their firearms and they straight up said no.

A lot of 'economy' gun manufacturers simply do not sell any parts (or very few) as they most likely do not have enough of a demand and are not set up administratively to do it. They offer warranties based on returning it to the factory for the necessary repairs and thats about it.

Reality being what it is they are aware their guns are most likely to have a limited market, will probably not be used much and therefore replacement parts sales are essentially unnecessary.

Buy the receiver and put it together yourself. That’s what I would do. I wouldn’t spend any money sending it to the manufacturer. I haven’t looked but I’m sure you will find plenty of assembly/ dissambly videos on YouTube.

He has tried to buy a receiver. He seems to be caught in a catch22.
