Hi! Can someone tell me the date of manufacture? Top break Iver Johnson Arms and Cycle Works .22 supershot sealed eight, serial #D46581. It has adjustable rear sight and checkered one piece walnut grip. Also, I can't figure out how to remove the cylinder for proper cleaning. It has the spring loaded auto eject. Does not work like a H&R 999 sportsman. Thanks, Dave (Sorry, has solid rib 6" barrel)
To remove the cylinder, lift up on the top post latch and keep it up. Then manually turn the cylinder and pull it off. There is a hook on the top post latch that helps retain the cylinder, and there is also a ring on the end of the cylinder that has notches so that you can remove the cylinder.
Are you sure about the serial number? Remove the grip and take a picture of the full serial number on the left side of the frame. I am only seeing the L & A prefix used on the Supershot Sealed 8.

Thank you very much. I was not turning and pulling at the same time. Looking closer at the prefix with a flashlight, the top of the "L" is not all there. It starts with "L". Dave
I really appreciate your time and you have been a big help! I bought it Sunday morning and now properly cleaned and oiled. Now all I need to do is get it dirty again! Dave
I have two Supershot 9's made in the 1930's which are similar to the Supershot Sealed Eight. The partridge sights, as they are called, take a little getting used to. I have to put the front sight blade near the bottom of the rear sight to get accuracy. Once I figured that out, they became very accurate.
