Hey guys I would like to see if you guys can help me out, I cannot seem to find any information on my black powdered shot gun. It has a cheek pad on the left side of the gun, two triggers and and unique trigger housing, the only markings the gun has is on the left it has "Chonon" or it could be a "T" instead of the first C, on the right side it has a "Francois" both of the markings are located right directly oppostie to the hammers, I also have pics see blelow, any help out at would be great thanks!

A nice old percussion double, a cut above the usual such, and maybe a bit later than Civil War.

Francois Thonon may have been a member of this Belgian family:

There should be proofmarks on underside of the barrels, but to view them you will have to carefully drive out the flat key in forestock and remove the barrels.

Thank you very much HRF, I took the gun apart and it has some very differnt markings on the barrel, looked almost like a BP or HP, see pics below, once again thank you very much for the help.

Well those are not Belgian proofmarks, and they don't ring a bell with me. Hopefully someone else will recognize them.

It has a German or Austrian look and the marks may be guild or makers's marks.
