10gr of WW296 is a pretty classic load for the Hornet. Should give close to 2600 fps. Start a half-grain light and work up.

    BG -

According to my Hornady reloading manual, WW 296 is one of the better powders for the .22 Hornet.

For a 45 gr SPFB bullet, they show a starting load of 8.7 gr @ 2300 fps and a maximum load of 12.4 gr @ 2900 fps. This was obtained in a 22" barrel with a 1:16" twist, Winchester cases and Winchester WSR primers.

I use a 35 gr Hornady V-Max bullet seated on top of 13.0 gr Hodgdon Li'l Gun powder and a Winchester WSR primer in my Ruger 77/22 rifle. This is pushing 3050 fps and gives less than MOA groups.

Fred, I'm always game for a trade but isn't there a $15.00 HAZ MAT Fee for shipping gun powder?
