Hey guys,
I recently purchased a SA Sports Fever crossbow package after using one from a friend this past archery season. He used Victory Maximus Carbon Slayer 20" bolts out of his and they were very accurate. I started looking around to find a few of those since they worked so well in his crossbow and they have been discontinued! I was wondering what some of you guys use that are good bolts? As of now I may try some Easton Bloodline 20" bolts because those seem to be getting the best reviews on what I can find.
Been a while since I messed with my crossbow so can't really comment on which bolts are best these days, I used Aluminium. What I can tell ya is get a decent backstop, what works for a regular bow will not cut it, and use a target with multiple aim points rather than shooting a group. If you aim multiple shots at one point you will destroy bolts by Robin Hooding them. Crossbows are unbelievably accurate out to forty yards.
Take your bolts down to the archery shop, and tell them you want to buy more bolts just like the ones you have. They might not have the discontinued bolts that you have, but they can match weight, and length to what you have.
It was one of my suppliers.
I think Natches shooters supply but can't remember exactly.
It's been a while but most any supply house will have components
and the bolts are easy to make. I probably made a thousand at
the beginning of deer season every year.
You may have to do an online search.
Can't just shorten regular arrows and use them with a crossbow without a little thought. Too light a bolt can be like "dryfiring" damaging or destroying the bow. Some arrows of lite construction can actually shatter when used in a crossbow.
