Hi there,

My name is Maria from Australia and I'm pretty new at forums. I have a Taurus 608 .357 revolver and I'm having trouble finding a replacement transfer bar for it. Unfortunately it broke and my uncle accidently threw the broken part away so I can't even have one made. I've contacted Taurus International and also the Brazil branch, no one seems to want to assist me. I've contacted a few gunsmiths here in Brisbane, and they're not eager to help either. It all seems to hard for everyone. I know its only a small part, but I really need help in finding it. It's been 5 months since I've started searching. Any help is greatly appreciated. Cheers M

Numrich Arms is also the very first place I thought of. I went and looked at the Taurus 608 revolver and they don't seem to offer the transfer bar. If the transfer bar is part number 26 in the schematic at this link, it is not listed: http://www.gunpartscorp.com/catalog/Products.aspx?catid=9129

I thought I had a couple more websites in my favorites for gun parts, but I can't seem to find them right now. I will look in a couple more web browser favorites and if I find them I will come back to this thread and list them.

EDIT: I found the other places and neither one of them have parts for Taurus, sorry.

G'day

tried Cleavers in brisbane ?? or get me a part number and i'll see what i can do but it'll be a interstate transfer i'm in NSW so you'll have to get a dealer to receive it anyway
cost on top of fee on top of cost

and baretta Australia helps by sending dealers to manufacturers and just being a stock holding middleman

Just a shot in the dark, and it's been a few years since I've been under the hood of any model Taurus revolver, but I recall their internals being mighty darned close to their S&W counterparts. An S&W K or L frame transfer bar can't be that expensive an item, and is probably available locally, so you might consider giving that a try.

Try these folks. I've been able to get parts from them that I couldn't find anywhere.

Just go to their 'contact us' link and e-mail them with what you need.

Taurus has used several systems, some of which use a hammer block safety instead of a transfer bar, which may be why the 608 does not show one. I would write (not email or phone) Taurus, give them the serial number of the gun and ask them to send the appropriate part.

Hi, nmckenzie, S&W does not and never has used a transfer bar; their revolvers use a hammer block safety which is not made the same and does not work the same way.

Think its hard to get parts now, just wait until the UN Small Arms Treaty gets ratified...
that's a gang-style BOHICA waiting to happen...
