new year tradition

    how many on here having blackeyed peas and collard greens today? or is it just a southern thang?

    I believe it's mostly a southern thang. We don't go in too much for that sort of fixings on New Years day, we mostly eat that way all year long.

    Blackeyes and cabbage... Supposed to be good luck and all that, but I just love the taste so it's a fine excuse. :)

    Just came back from the neighbors where they had their annual New Years Day cioppino party. Crab, shrimp, scallops, clams and white fish in a homemade tomato sauce. Yummmm! I believe this an east coast/west coast tradition.

    My wife maintains that rice is mandatory on New Years Day..... and I generally do the "traditional" thing with a few ounces of ethanol.
