i just bought a norinco or polytech M-14s, cant seem to find anyone who can tell me how to identify which it is. all i can find on it is the importers stamp on the barrel, and the serial # 93xx guess it is a small number not sure how many were imported. and also curious about whether it is pre or post ban.

What does the writing say on the receiver? Look on both
sides and on the back portion, does it say anything
anywhere on the receiver besides the serial#?
Do you have any pictures of it? Is there a bayonet lug
and or is the flash suppressor vented or non-vented?

I just looked at mine and the name and serial number is to the rear of the rear sight on the top.
Mine has a 3 digit serial number 006XX.

other than the importers stamp on the barrel, which isnt real clear can make out CAI, there is nothing but the serial number on the left side of the receiver, #930x , nuffin to the rear of the rear sight, nuffin to the right side. the stock has had the selector switch hole filled in. parkerized finish on metal. no flash suppressor.

CAI's receivers are usually investment castings I beleive,
as are the Garands with new receivers out there now, I
don't know what the strength in the metal would be but
you may want to ask that question in our Tech forum
where it will get specific attention.
Hope this helps!
