Mike, are you looking surplus o.e.? which type by the way Type 59/66 type 45 type 56 or type 63? Numrich has the bolt (stripped) and a pin currently in stock , $34 and $21, but you will need the firing pin retainer as well $7 there are other on line places as well

I just realized the caliber... let me recheck for you... the previous was for the 7.62x39 sorry.
I believe the type 84 SKS (paratrooper) with detachable AK style mag, was chambered in your 5.56x45.. still checking
Yep it is the 84S. But it is a AK not a SKS
Mike
Mike.. maybe these guys can make one for the 5.56x45

Or may have more info than I can dig up.
Shawn
Any body else have any Ideas?
Mike
Excuse my ignorance but I was'nt aware a Norinco SKS was ever made in any other caliber than 7.62x39......I have a Russian with a AK magwell I bought for 250 years ago...
You know you might be right:confused:
All I have been working on is the bolt and what he said I havent had the gun in my hands.
It's my friends gun so he just sent the bolt.
I called him and told him to send pic.
I need to see the gun.
He just sent a pic to show me the numbers
I think he could have a AK not a SKS.
He sent this.
I Need to see more.
Now if I can get this from a e-mail to here.
Mike

Its a "Stamped Steel" receiver! Ill check on the "AK" type 84S and see what info comes up!
Shawn
Yes, Mike, Its an AK type 84S chambered in 5.56X45.. or 5.56 NATO... or .223, call the round what ever you will!.. But its an AK none the less... you have a picture of the L/H side of the receiver! (or the side opposite the ejection port)
This will teach me to have the whole gun in my hand before I open my mouth.

But.. I did find some info on a 5.56 type 84 SKS!!!!!
Now I had this dam bolt in my hands for a week and could not tell it's from a AK not a SKS.

Sadly, I wanted to originally ask you if it was a drop breach lock or a rotary lock type bolt... but I figured you knew what you had.... oops! take a vacation Mike! Sounds like you need it!

I should have known.
Just reading what he wrote and not thinking when I saw what was wrong with the bolt I just put it down and went on to the next thing and well
I screwed up is all I can say.
Mike
I ONCE called a "Moisin"...a "Nagant" and did'nt hear the end of that for about 3 months:)
Now that I know what I have
I have a question.
As you can tell I am not that familiar with these guns.
So here is the question.
This AK needs a new bolt so far all I can find is a bolt with the floating firing pin style the one I have is the spring loaded style.
Are they interchangeable? can I use the floating pin style in this gun?instead of the spring loaded style.
