He was lucky not to have been hurt more..BUT,his actions afterward that saved his life are the most important thing--training,training,training.Simple. He remembered what to do when faced with a bleed out situation--wrapped thumb and stuck in throat to stop bleeding #1...called help himself to stay conscious(father was driving fast)...he saved his own life.

The threads on both faces will well within any pressure expected of a .50cal rd,including "pressure test rounds-70-75k".I t was an ammo problem--it was either severe overpressure or the entire case blew out.
The only "doctored rounds" used in warfare recently were in Vietnam,put there by SOG teams to cause mistrust in Chinese products-great idea and worked...
