My son in law dropped by this afternoon with his S&W 38 airweight. Apparently he was rapid firing with some old ammo, when he realized there was a problem. There is a bullet lodged in the barrel and the cylinder will not drop open. As best we can decide there is also a bullet lodged half in the cylinder and half in the barrel. He could see on the target there were 3 holes where the first 3 bullets hit, but not the last 2.
Anyone have an idea how to get them out?

sorry i can not leave you hanging there.
find the largest rod that fits down the barrel. softly tap it till the second bullet clears the barrel so you can open the cylinder. open then tap out the one in the barrel. hope that works. go slow.

Get a wooden dowel slightly smaller than the bore diameter. From the muzzle, insert the dowel and begin gently beating the bullet back towards the cylinder. Do this gently and pay close attention. Stop when the 2nd bullet moves enough to free the cylinder. With the cylinder free, it should be fairly easy to get the bullet out of the cylinder. After that and with the cylinder open, continue to beat the first bullet out of the barrel.

Do like I'd do; beat the crap out of the cylinder with a hammer. It'll open eventually.
