I'm new to reloading and I'm wondering how do you tell if a powder is a fast or slow burning powder?
    Thankyou in advance.

    Welcome to TFF.

I don't think there is a way to tell if a certain powder it fast or slow burning by looking at it. My Hornady reloading manual has a chart that lists all the powders by their burning rate. If you check the manual you are using, I bet it will probably also have the same kind of chart. The Hornady chart is on page 38 in the 7th Edition, just in case that is the book you have.

You've got some reading ahead of you so refer to some powder manuals. A lot of time there are charts like This one.
