Rules are simple, Any centerfire gun made before 1945 is eligible.

10 rounds at 25 yards on a 50 yard small bore target from any position except from a gun vise. Sandbags okay lead sled is not.

One entry per gun enter as many guns as you want. Target posted is a sample target showing what I want on the target. Name, date, time, temp, wind if shooting outside. Make, model and best approximation of manufacturers date you can get. Mark score on left side if possible. I will disqualify myself from the competition so I can score independently.

January 1st King Old Gun Shooter will be crowned and have bragging rights till the next match.

Well somebody has to shoot something. So here it is February 1 2013, 1030 hours, -7 degrees, 8mph wind coming from behind me and my pre WWII gun shot at 25 yards off hand. Had to shoot in a hurry because my patootie was freezing.

The next time I go to the range I'll make a point of taking something that qualifies to be in this challenge.

I thought sure when I made it a simple 25 yard match somebody would play, with all the interest in old military guns doesn't anybody shoot them anymore or am I the last dinosaur?

I think this is an awesome idea. I went to a friends house the other day and he handed me an Argentine Mauser and a couple of rounds. I was hitting the 450 yard target on the side of the hill after three rounds with the iron sights.

A true marksman does not need a scope :)

I'm all about vintage Milsurp weapons and love all of mine. As a former US Army guy from the early 80's, we were trained to use Iron Sights at any range. We didn't have all those fancy sights like the guys have now in the military.

I think the interest is there for your match, I just think it is spring and everyone is out doing their "honey-do's" and such. It's a real busy time for me as well. The only time I have to check these forums is at work

Unfortunately, I can't shoot while I'm at work LOL

cool, time to drag out the oldies. Only centerfire? I've got an old savage pump .22 that will put them through the same hole damn near with it's nice tang peep sight.

Krag, O3-A3's, 25-20 SS and Winchester rifles, and the Mosins. Course they also fell into the river so if I find them I'll have to enter their targets here! Not sure what the date is on my swede mauser, that may qualify also. not so accurate though, headspace is on the edge of too much, need to rebarrel it.

I would love to join in, but I don't have any old guns, at least not that old! Got several with iron sights. Now the 30-30 round itself has been around that long, would it count?

No but we could make a lever action match, same rules, 10 rounds, iron sights, offhand at 25 yards. It would give me an excuse to shoot the 32 Win spcl.

Ha, just checked the birthday of it, it qualifies for this match too. :D

I'll post lever action challenge match tomorrow.
