bought a grab bag of 300 wthby at a gunshow today.

17 emmpty 1x fired brass. + 3 good looking factory cartridges ( looked remington )

plus 40 rounds in old boxes of laoded weatherby brand.

the brass is tarnushed or dull / cloudy looking on the weatherby. no green corrosion though..

I want to clean them up to use..

I have weatherby dies and all.. etc.

question.

I 'heard' that wthby uses a proprietary powder type and charge that you can't dupe to factory equivalence.

With this in mind I was considering pulling the projectiles, depriming. tumbling/cleaning.. reprime and reload with the oe powder I dumped and then relaod the oe projectile.

?

or should I dump the powder and just relaod with my own???

( will be shot out of a MKV )

Dump the powder and load them with your own.

Ditto, dump the powder and bullets and use your own. I wouldn't bother repriming, use up what is already there. Weigh the bullets and if they are the same as you use then go ahead and reuse them otherwise set them aside until you have a load for them.

Fertilize the flower bed and reload with your own powder.

sounds like a plan then.. toss the old powder and clean up the brass.

I'll weigh the proj's and see what they are.

the copepr looks good.. just the brass has that dull cloudy look and some dark stains and dusty.. nothing i'd want to slip into my mkV chamber as is... or even running a cloth over..

thanks
