Grandmother found a pistol owned by her grandmother.
We are looking for manufacture name and year.

Ranger No 3 is stamped on the top.
6817 is a number stamped under left grip.
5 shot, appears to be .32 or .38
2.5 inch barrell length.
No trigger guard.

Many small and a few larger firms made such spur-trigger revolvers in USA 1880s, with many different brand names.

Some of the brand names were likely used by more than one maker, and here's an 1884 adv. for a Ranger No. 3 made by Hopkins & Allen, but it differs some from your photo:
