Hello my name is Scott Robertson from Delaware. I have recently bought a Ruger SR1911 full size and am kinda confused on the mounting systems for pistols and the different types. If anyone could give some good information on this it would be very helpful and thank you! 107704886_2745013675774723_514933742418917209_n.jpg

I had one similar to this years ago. After using it for a little while, got rid of it because I decided that it looked pretty stupid on a gun as beautiful as the 1911 is. Brownells sell them.

If you want to run a red dot, have the slide cut for one.
This seems to be the best option. They do make mounts that will fit in the dovetail slots of your rear sights but those always seemed bulky and cumbersome to me. Adding any type of mount will add a weight to the rear of the slide might increase muzzle flip from recoil. You also lose the ability to co-witness with your iron sights as well. At least having the slide cut to fit a red dot will reduce some of that weight and should save your rear iron site.

Edit: I have to say that is a beautiful looking Ruger!
