Does anyone here know if some company makes a red dot-type sight that also has a 3 or 4x zoom? I've looked around quite a bit and haven't been able to find anything. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

    Thanks much

GMB, welcome to the board. And no. No magnification at all. Most red dot sights are for "heads up" shooting only.

Allrightythen, in that case, what kind of sight would be reccomended if I were looking at something compact, 3 or 4x zoom, and a relatively small reticle? Thanks for the help, shooter.

    Welcome, GMB -

    From an old/newbie (?)

Are you putting this on a pistol, rifle, muzzleloader, or what?

Anticipating a rifle, there are many fixed power scopes in the 1 to 4 power range that are compact and have small lens bells that mount quite low on the firearm and give great field of view. Reticle will be of your choice, however, most are "plex" reticles, meaning the crosshairs are thick until near the middle, then they thin down to fine ones.

Several scope makers provide 1.5x4, 1.5x6 and 2x7 veriable power scopes of compact size. I have a Burris Signature 1.5x6 on a .375 Win that is one of the finest compact scopes I have ever had.

Aimpoint used to offer a 2x converter for their sights
