Gentlemen,
I recently purchased a beautiful Savage BTCSS in Rem. 223 caliber and have started looking for an accurate load using Winchester 748 powder. The rifle has a 26 inch barrel and a 1 in 9 inch twist. I am using new Remington brass, 68 grain Hornady HPBT Match bullets and CCI Small Rifle primers. My initial experiments indicate that 23.0 to 23.5 grains can produce 0.5 inch groups at 100 yards.
1. Has anyone had a similar experience with 23.0 or 23.5 grain loads?
2. Does anyone have a proven load for this rifle with W748? I know that friends have had good success with H322 but I have a quantity of W748 and would like to use that first.
Thank you,
