Gonna be away from the box here for a couple days of well deserved R&R so I wanted to take a moment here to wish all of you the very best this Memorial Weekend. Amidst the outings in the back yards or where ever you may be enjoying the time away from work with friends and family .... The good chow ..... liquid refreshments and the laughter with just plain ole' good times .....

Take a moment to remember all of those who gave the ultimate sacrifice towards the preservation of our freedoms. After all ..... this is what Memorial Day "really" is all about but then I don't have to remind you of that. Ya'll have a safe one ..... Six

Please allow me the opportunity to 'second' that proposal Gunner---we should ---no, let me rephrase that---we must, continually remind the youngsters what it all is about---sometimes, for whatever reasons, it is not stressed in schools as it should be---and yes, we must remind ourselves too. Makes the feelings of sadness come and envelope you as you recall those who didn't make it, but so be it---little price for us to pay. Wilborn

    To everyone here,

For me Memorial Day is not a day of picnics and barbeques, not a day for playing around but a day of remembering and praying that what so many people have lost their lives for will never be forgotten.

To all here may you know peace.

Not sure if I've shared this, but I thought it was appropriate... as well as a little ironic...

    Remember Them

    I've been here numerous times,
To this place known as "The Wall".
Where Soldier, Sailor, Marine and Airman
Are now joined quietly one and all.

It's hard to grasp the reality
Behind the stoic, black granite face.
But you feel each soul, each essence
As you marvel that sacred place.

I can almost feel as though each spirit
Were with me, guiding me on.
Past the names of those who fell
    Fighting for South Vietnam.

In thinking of those fallen soldiers
    Honoring each and every one
Thoughts cross my mind of history
And of those who are long gone.

For with me now are those who died
Battling in the Forest of Argonne.
Preserving the freedom so dearly held
Against the wrath of the "Mighty Hun".

I close my eyes and remember
Those who went in on foreign shore.
    Storming the beaches of Normandy,
    Iwo, Suribachi and Corrigador.

I reflect on the men who fought valiantly
And had so much to give.
    On places like Hill Nine-Three-One,
    Better known as "Heartbreak Ridge".

For memories of those who went to Korea
Will forever in time live on
They've braved some of the bloodiest
    Such as invasions like Inchon.

Those who've experienced pain and fear
    In wars on distant land
Have shared something we could never know,
    Nor even begin to understand.

    Every American owes their freedom
To those who've endured such strife.
And when you pay them tribute,
    Their memories come to life.

    So always remember the soldier.
He fought so you'd be free.
Thank him, honor him, praise him,
    For he stands for liberty.

No Winter, you hadn't shared your composition but I'm thankful you did. So often, as with many other holidays, we are bombbasted with things that have little or no meaning to that which we should so reverently hold in high regards. Your words have strength and personality---like a firm handshake---a dispassionate hug--a slap on the shoulder. Thank you for sharing. Wilborn
