Hello there;

I have a Remington Model 552 speedmaster, The manufacture numbers as follows, XH 14.
The Paten number is 2,675 638. I am trying to find out when this was made and it's value. I know condition is everything. I think it was made in 1961, December, But not sure since I found 3 different "H's" in the chart. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thank You

I'm sorry, it is a Speedmaster model 552, not 572.
December 1961 or 1987.

The other H is 1939 and it wasn't made until 1957.

I have always thought Remington's date code method as stupid and this is why.

What kind of front sight does it have?

If it has a bead front sight dovetailed to the barrel it's most likely a 1961. If it has a ramped front sight a 1987. I'm sort of guessing here because I can't be positive I'm correct on when they changed the front sight. But I think I'm correct...:D
It has the dovetail,bead front sight. Thank you very much. I wonder what the 14 means after the XH. thanks again.

The 14 could be the "assembly plant" number.
