I just acquired a Savage NRA 19 in 22 cal. I believe it was a training and target rifle for the 1903 rifle. It has a peep sight ,adjustable for windage and elevation. Does anyone know where to get a scope mount for it or even what type scope mount it would use.
Thanks ,

I don't know of a scope mount for these but I do have some info on the rifle to offer.

Savage had hoped the Army would buy their new 1919 design but they did not. They sold them in two variations, one with the full length stock named the 19 NRA and used for NRA shooting matches and the sporter model 23.

There are three generations of these: All the model 23's had open rear sights with a peep sight option.

First Generation 19NRA 1919 - 1923
- Dual Firing Pins
- Small Ejection Port
- Bolt cocks on closing
- Savage Peep sight with one screw

Second generation, 1923 - 1933, oval ejection port, single firing pin, half cock on open full cock on close. Ended with SN 45000
- Savage peep sight with two screws.

Third generation, 1933 - 1946, sight, magazine and stock changes

mtmtnmn, Thanks for the information. I didn't know about the 3 generations. This one is 2nd generation. the rear sight has windage and elevation adjustments but is a little wobbly in the dove tail slot. This will affect accuracy and repeatability. That's why i'm thinking scope. it does have a screw about 6 " from the rear sight, center barrel. I'm looking for a rear sight with dovetail that could fit if I can't scope it. thanks again. bolichek.
