Bought a cheap 85$ scope for my .300wh test mule....it just would not track or be consistent--using front/rear bags,holding right on-bullets would be 3-10" apart../../.so when I was shooting 2 days ago,I smacked the scope good calling it junk....Doing my daily testing yesterday---it decides to track properly---2-5shot groups at 50yds--1/2"....tried again this AM....consistent 1/2"---160gr cast over TB @ 1000fps....So I guess giving scope a good whack helped-weird...

Not weird at all. It is a common practice that when setting up an economy priced scope to give it a "light wrap " with the handle of a screwdriver to see if the cross-hairs jump. You need to use a grid style bore-sighter to see it happen.

I have found on a lot of scopes you need to tap the adjustment knob with the handle of a screwdriver to get them to adjust. I have had scopes I have given up on coming back to life by doing this. When it is really cold out this helps a lot.

I don't ask my "budget priced" scopes to do any tracking ... my dog tracks !
As long as the cross hairs stay put after sighting it in ... I'm Happy .
Tracking is for dogs and trackers ... not cheap scopes .
