I am a newbie and I need info on this gun. Its a Sharps 1865 Carbine, .52 ,in good condition by my estimation. Gun is all original, Patina is intact, serial # is readable (C,4----), patents & dates all readable. No damage, but in need of a thorough cleaning. Has not been fired recently. I can account for its possession for the last 60 yrs. Any ideas on value?
Thanks in advance for your help - I havent been able to have it appraised yet.
Also, please correct me if I have stated anything improperly...

Details: Top engraving: Sharps Rifle manuf. co Hartford CT
    On sight: R S Lawrence Feb 15 1859
    Behind sight: New Model 1859
    Serial#: C, 47041

Left side: Sharps Patent Sept 12 1848
    Right side: C.Sharps Patented Oct 5 1862
RS Lawrence Patent April 12, 1859

Barrel is blue w/pitting. There also seems to be some sort of single letter engraved on each side of gun (on metal), but I cannot read it. Pics will follow.

Welcome to our fine forum, 66puppies. Sounds like a nice firearm you have there, somebody around here will know more about it than I do.

You in ave a civil war Sharps Carbine in what appears to be NRA antique good condition. It is fitted with a Lawrence priming system. If you e-mail me I will give you a complete rundown on this gun (I am away from my library till thurs. the 11th of June.
Of hand I would place the value between $2000 and $2500. I would need to see better pics. to get closer in value. Does the stock have any stamps on the left side in back of the saddle ring bar? I cannot see a percussion nipple if it does not have one then this is a conversion of a New Model Civil War Sharps carbine. If so it is Caliber 50 centerfire. There may be other markings on the stock that will let us know what unit it was issued to after the conversion.
