I was driving down the highway (two lane) this morning and got stuck behind a line of cars doing between 45-50mph. The lead car wasn't in a hurry and the car behind wouldn't pass. By the time I got in the line I was car number seven and by the time we had driven the ten miles to town there was at least four more behind me.

Anyway, besides annoying me to no end, I started thinking how much people have gotten the sheep mentality and will just do whatever the one in front of them does. Do this, do that, whatever the next popular craze is, (I suspect that is partly how Obozo got elected).

Whatever happened to being a unique individual? OK, Now i'm better.

45 to 50 mph? You can "show them the way" even in an old, beat up truck. ;):D

I HATE it when people do that!!!:mad::mad: Or they get in a hurry to whip over in front of you like they're passing someone in the other lane, then they do the SAME SPEED as the guy that they are "passing"! When I get in the passing lane it's because I"m actually PASSING someone, but people here seem to love slowpoking their way down the road in the passing lane. People don't want to do anything to make them stand apart from the masses. No one wants to be different. They act docile and brainwashed, just the way the closet-commie socialists want it:mad::mad::mad::mad::mad::mad::mad::mad:

I'm fighting the same sort of mentality in government right now, legislation that doesn't account for me, a sovereign individual.
I think, therefore I damn well am!!
I'm the guy that said, in my youth:
    Don't light that it wi......
    Or
I don't think that we shoul......

Having survived all that I now say things like:

    What @#s wrote this Act/law/reg?
    Or
who died and left you king?
    or
    I wouldn't light that if I were......

By the way, Liberals should require a license, but not to drive. That shouldn't be allowed!! The license should be to exist!!

Yes, people do not think for themselves because free thought is too draining.

And on the subject of stupid drivers?... Yeah, they make life difficult. It's often too dangerous to pass them. The ones I occasionally encounter on the way to work drive 10+ miles/hour BELOW the speed limit, match speeds to someone in the slow lane on a 4-lane highway, or simply refuse to drive in anything but the fast lane. There's something about the concept of 'slower traffic KEEP RIGHT' that doesn't register with all people. 'Slower' is a relative thing; if people are passing you in the slow lane get the heck over!!!!! What's bad is that I don't speed... If I'm passing someone it's because they're incompetent at maintaining the legally posted speed limit. :D;)

I used to drive country roads to work (I miss those days BADLY!!!!!!!!). The drive did have its downfalls. I went through 4 4-way stops on the way to work. I was amazed how many dang MORONS would refuse to use turn signals at 4-way stops even though that is how you determine who's next to go... My favorite idiot is the one who follows another car through at a 4-way stop. You see them all the time. They think they're grandfathered at the stop sign because the person in front of them actually came to a complete stop, so they follow that person through.

I swear, our gene pool needs some STRONG chlorine...

Don't get me started. I drive 150 miles a day and I have seen it all.

4 lanes are a whole new issue I don't want to even bring up. 100 mile round trip to work and back, most of it interstate.

This is why I don't drive 18 wheels over the road anymore.

I used to have to drive from San Diego to LA once every two weeks. When I got up around John Wayne Airport, I would jump the bike over into the HOV lane and settle it on 5 over. Then I would watch all the cars in the regular lanes whip past me at 70 to 75 mph, 18 inches between bumpers. Almost every trip, I'd see a multiple car pile up.

Happened to me while I was driving a 26ft box truck for a delivery/moving company..... w/a slight twist.

I'm driving down a 3-lane Freeway in the fast lane during 1700 rush hour. Little jap car in the fast lane, four cars ahead... doing 50-53 mph (speed lim.-65mph). Several cars in the center & slow lane "putting along" doing 53-55mph. The few cars in front of me moved over after seeing that I had "blipped" my H-beams. No tail-gating by me, & everyone was polite as I think they could tell I was "on the clock" so to speak.

I was moving along about 55-60mph, & caught up to jap car. After sitting behind jap car for almost 2 mi. (now he's dropped his speed to 49-50), the truck in the middle lane next to me saw what jap car was doing & slowed down enough for me to get over & pass in the center lane.

I moved over to the center lane, & as soon as I got passed the jap car (still in the fast lane) he sped up & swerved over in front of me & slammed on his brakes!

I locked 'em up & swerved over into the fast lane & he swerved over into the fast lane & locked them up again! By this time my co-driver is screaming "hit him, hit him!!" & everyone behind us had slowed down to 5-8 mph!

He would speed up to 25 or so & do it all over again.... we did this lane change brake slamming 2 or 3 more times before he wound up exiting the Hwy.

I finally had to pull over because of my adrenalin levels where so high.

I guess my rant/story just shows if they aren't sheep'ls, they're A-holes! I'm just glad nobody involved (me included) had been armed!

I drive I-75 every work day and I can tell you that this isn't limited to the 4 wheel crowd.

I can't tell you how many times I'll be rolling along 10-15 mph faster than the 17 wheelers and just as I get almost even with their rear bumper they'll throw on their signal and immediatly cut into the fast lane.

I have had a number of close calls because of these guys. I understand that they are on a schedule but to put someone else's vehicle or life in danger over a schedule or because someone else in a 4 wheel vehicle made them mad is just plain stupid.

Most of the time I just let it pass but if it was really close I will get the vehicle ID, phone # and company name and call in a complaint. I know they don't really care at the home office but it makes me feel better until the next time it happens.

Another problem I have is those who are doing more than 5 mph over the speed limit who get upset when you are in the fast lane doing 5 mph over and passing slower vehicles.

It's as if they think they own the road and you should slow down and move over until they pass. I live in Ohio and this is typical of some (not all) from Michigan when they are passing through our state.

Slow drivers are bad enough but I realy dispise those who vary their speed from 45 + or - 10. Can't watch for developing situations down the road. Got my own situation right in front of me. Used to have 2 or 3 regulars to and from work. Only 1 was an old guy. Hey, I'm an old guy. Can't complain too much only drove 4.5 mi. to and from work. Now that I'm retired, I drive to Black Rock every Fri. to get some realy great CATFISH, 17 mi. one way. Sometimes I don't see any trafick till almost in town.
