Anyone have this version? I've heard they're not very reliable, is that true?

Thanks.

SIG Sauer 522... Anyone?

I made a similar thread already, but maybe people don't have that model.

Anyone have a SIG Sauer 522 in GENERAL

Any experiences, thoughts, are welcomed.

And I apologize if I seem like I'm spamming, I'm just trying to get as much info as possible

Thanks.

I have a 522 had no problems with it great pinker.
Finally :D! I thought no one on this entire forum owned one, I've been trying to decide to get this or a Henry 001, or rather which to get first. Hmmm

I've looked at other places on the net and many others have been pretty happy with their 522s, maybe I should invest in it first.

I am a rimfire nut myself. I woudl recommend the 522 to anyone. The only issue I had is when I bought it a year or two ago my FFL called me and said it was broke and they had to get another one. A week later he called and said this one is broke to and he sent it back another week and the third one came in he called me again saying it is broke I said I wanna see it this time so I went over. Turns out he thought the charging handle was broke off having read the manual online already I poped open the flap on the bottom of the grip and removed the charging handle then proceeded to install it. He turned beet red and I LOL big time.

Several thousand at least. One thing it has over the M&P 25/22 is it takes standard ar22 mags. This is one of the reasons my daughter likes it cause I always keep a pile of BD 25 round ( think they are really 23? ) mags loaded and the bd 50 round drums are always loaded as well so she like the 522 cause she does not have to load mags.

So reliability is a non-issue awesome:D! I'm impressed by the magazine options too, didn't know it could take 22 AR mags! :D What about iron sights? I know they don't ship with them; have any suggestions?

I hope I can get this gun. Really tight on funds right now; might be a few months before I could afford one, but definitely will be at the top of my list.

Just talked to my buddy who works at the gun shop. They have a neat looking Sig .22 in style of the 1911. He saw my interest and said "bad choice". They supposedly jam all the time. Overpriced and poorly built. He said the Walther is his choice. I currently have a Browning Buckmark. No issues.

Oops!! Brain fart. 522 is a long gun. Boy do I fool feelish. Well at least I got someone to laugh at me today. Come to think of it, people laugh at me most every day.
LOL :D it's okay, it happens to the best of us; and hey, at least you're putting a smile on their face.;)

Do you use optics or iron? I know the sights from SIG are fairly expensive.

I have the SIG 522 22LR rifle and it is an excellent gun. Mine came with no sights (an early version) so I stuck a Burris FastFire red dot on it and there is no can alive that is safe or shotgun hull, for that matter. This is my very favorite 22 plinking rifle and I have several others to choose from including a Volquartsenized 10/22, a Thompsonized SMG 10/22, a Winchester pump, a Taurus clone of a Winchester Model 63, a Browning SA22 ATD, and several others.

The common problem with the guns originally was the small clip that holds the recoil sporing on its guide. It is prone to fall off and get lost during cleaning. I think SIG fixed that in the later ones. I have a homemade fix by one of the poster here done several years ago.

It digests my favorite cheapy ammo, Federal Bulk, without hesitation, accuaterly, and reliably, I highly recommend this SIG 522!

Nice picture of your gun but I sure would not mount a scope the way you did. With the long cantilever mount you used, I would think the stability of the scope on the gun would be impaired. Doesn't the rail on the top of the receiver go underneath the rear of the scope? I know these guns need a high mount but I think I would have searched out one that supported both ends of the scope and without all the cantilever your mouth has (??). I have not mounted a scope on mine but a Burris FastFire small red dot which I had to mount up high. It is totally different from a scope mounting situation. But if it works for you, go with it, I guess.

That was the mount I grabbed out of the drawn when I put he scope on. As it is a 22 stability is not a issue. I have had many squirrels out past 50 yards who prove the stability of this set up..

I guess I am too much of a purist. If it works then all is fine. I just would not do it that way.

Merry Xmas

If everybody did it the same then I woudl not have so many drawers full of different parts for doing the same thing.. Of course I likely would not have safes of multiple firearms either.. LOL
