a fellow came in my shop yesterday and offered me 2 sks's and 2100 rds. of ammo for 2 grand.
he never had the rifles with him so i didn't see them. he told me he bought them before registration and had the bayonets with them. one was like a ice pick and the other was like a regurlar knife he said.
should i, or should i let them pass

I would also pass. I remember when the gun shows had hundreds of sks for 69 dollars your pick. Although they have gone up in value a grand is still a lot for them now.

Depends on what kinda sks they are cheap run of the mill sks pass but some sks have value like the sporters and a few yukos and Russians have some value but sks are hit or miss got to tear them down and look at the quality they where made all so he sounds like he don't realy know what he hads more than likely trying to make some money by fliping them so you most likely could talk him down not to sound mean but fancy words and a few frowns can make people who are gun dumb think they got had and then it shifts from profit to breaking even for them

At that price, I would pass too. A panic-buyer might pay that for it, given today's political climate, but it would not be the kind of price you could pay and then expect to mark up for resale. Most likely, when a new AWB fails to pass, prices will come down again and you'd be left with taking a loss on them just to get rid of them.

It sounds like what he has are Chinese SKS's, which were imported with both blade and spike bayonets. The only other SKS model that had a spike bayonet was the Albanian, but it was fairly uncommon and the collectors like myself snapped them up pretty quickly. I would doubt anyone bought an Albanian not knowing what it was.

It's possible that this could be worth what he's asking if it's something rare or collectible, but it doesn't really sound like it. As for the ammo, same thing. If he has Chinese steel-core ammo or something, it might be worth more. But if it's plain-jane Wolf or other typical imported stuff, he's asking too much.

Really can't say without knowing what it all is.
