    I got this this morning in my news letter. It's a letter that they published from the NRA Gun Rights Alert folks.
    Anyone know more about it? Yes, they are asking for donations, sign petitions, phone calls, etc. Just wondering if anyone else has heard about it.

    Dear fellow patriot,

    With willing one-world accomplices in Washington, D.C., gun-grabbers around the globe believe they have it made.

    In fact, Secretary of State Hillary Clinton just announced the Obama Administration would be working hand in glove with the UN to pass a new “Small Arms Treaty.”

    Disguised as legislation to help in the fight against “terrorism,” “insurgency” and “international crime syndicates,” the UN Small Arms Treaty is nothing more than a massive, GLOBAL gun control scheme.

    Ultimately, the UN’s Small Arms Treaty is designed to register, ban and CONFISCATE firearms owned by private citizens like YOU.

    That’s why it’s vital you sign special petition I’ve made up for your signature that DEMANDS your U.S. Senators vote AGAINST ratification of the UN’s “Small Arms Treaty!”

    So far, the gun-grabbers have successfully kept the exact wording of their new scheme under wraps.

    But looking at previous versions of the UN “Small Arms Treaty,” you and I can get a good idea of what’s likely in the works.

    If passed by the UN and ratified by the U.S. Senate, the UN “Small Arms Treaty” would almost certainly FORCE national governments to:

    *** Enact tougher licensing requirements, making law-abiding citizens cut through even more bureaucratic red tape just to own a firearm legally;

    *** CONFISCATE and DESTROY ALL “unauthorized” civilian firearms (all firearms owned by the government are excluded, of course);

    *** BAN the trade, sale and private ownership of ALL semi-automatic weapons;

    *** Create an INTERNATIONAL gun registry, setting the stage for full-scale gun CONFISCATION.

    You see, this is NOT a fight we can afford to lose.

    Ever since it’s founding almost 65 years ago, the United Nations has been hell-bent on bringing the United States to its knees.

    To the petty dictators and one-worlders who control the UN, the U.S. isn’t a “shining city on a hill” -- it’s an affront to their grand totalitarian designs for the globe.

    These anti-gun globalists know that so long as Americans remain free to make our own decisions without being bossed around by big government bureaucrats, they’ll NEVER be able to seize the worldwide oppressive power they crave.

    And the UN’s apologists also know the most effective way to finally strip you and me of ALL our freedoms would be to DESTROY our gun rights. /snip

    Too bad we can't do to them what our bosses can do to us: Call them into the office and tell them to go back to job hunting!

    If I were president, I would never endorse anything like this at all. If guns kill people, then matches start fires. It makes no sense to toughen the rules on people who do not break them. Cars are dangerous weapons. Why don't we make a big national registry of people that own cars. Knives are dangerous weapons. Why don't we register everybody who owns knives, whether it's for hunting or cooking or whatever. Rocks thrown at people can kill too, why don't we make a big national registry of people who have rocks in their yards? My farts are bad enough to gas people. Why don't we make a big national registry of everybody that eats burritos? You see how silly this is? A gun is no more dangerous than anything else in the hands of a responsible person. And determining responsible people is exactly why we have background checks.

    But I think this is all just a big misunderstanding. I just got done reading about the proposed bill, and it's meant to curb international small arms trafficking.

    Hillary Clinton is an idiot, to say the least. Obama said he was doing it to curb small arms trafficking and she blows it way out of proportion. She doe not speak for Obama and his entire administration because she is not Obama or his entire administration. Eric Holder is another one who seems like he would outright ban guns if he had the chance. I don't want to sound like a Democrat here, but I feel safer with my gun rights in the hands of Obama than with Holder or Clinton. Obama said he would not endorse anything that would make people register their guns, or anything like that. It's these idiots from New York that want to re-instate the AWB for another ten years if not make it permanent. The lady that is endorsing it, I forget her name, Carolyn something from New York. They interviewed her about it, about language in the bill, banning things like barrel shrouds, and funny thing is, they asked her what that was and she had absolutely no idea.

    The long and short of it is - they just want to sound all big and nice like they know what they are talking about and like they are doing a public service or doing something good so they can get re-elected and get their name in the paper. They don't care about anything but their own vested interests.

    I live in Madison, Wisconsin. It's a very liberal area and there are lots of Democratic voters here. When Bush was president, all I heard these people complain about was, Bush this and Bush that. I'll admit he wasn't my favorite guy either, but he never wanted to take away my right to defend myself or make it public record that I owned a gun. I don't think he even begins to compare to the idiots in Obama's administration.

    A wretched hive of scum and villiany
    The only problem with that is it's one conservative vote versus one liberal vote, plus 100 ACORN registered votes (i.e., 100 cartoon characters and/or dead people), plus 250 voters "convinced" to vote Democrat by SEIU.
