Sorry if this is the wrong board, I'm new to the forum. I'm also a relatively new handgun owner, all the guns I "owned" before belonging to my parents. For Christmas I received a Smith-Wesson M&P .22 handgun. But considering I'm new to this I had a few questions when it comes to buying accessories. Namely, a holster and maybe a light. How do I go about choosing a holster that will fit my particular gun? And I know that it has the equipment rail on the bottom so I'm assuming it will probably be compatible with quite a few lights?

Google....Google...Google....but seriously I always used a Blackhawk Holster and Surefire lights when I a Deputy Sheriff. Have fun!!

The gun should be the same frame as the M&P 9 or 40. But, the best thing you can do, it take it with you to the store and try the fit on the holsters.

Does that rail style have a name? Or are they all pretty standard? I'd hate to drop money one something that wont fit.
