Depends on the definition of "sniper rifle". If you mean a military issue rifle made for sniping, the answer is yes. The "sniper" idea has a certain cachet and many companies have hung the name on ordinary bolt action rifles as hype. That has backfired and now the antis are trying to include "sniper rifles" (ordinary hunting rifles) in a weapons ban.
(The term "assault rifle" is a translation of the German "Sturmgewehr" but in this country it was originally advertising hype to sell Chinese AK-47's, which no one much wanted at the time. The anti gun gang seized on it and used it against us.)
