So, yesterday, I had to go to the LGS to get a part to put my AR-15 back together. while I was there I saw a sweet looking Remington 7400, chambered in 30-06. I asked to see it, and if he'd take a trade for an AR-10. He said he would, and LSS, I now have a 30-06, which is a chambering that has been missing from my collection for the last 7-8 years. Scoped the barrel to check out the rifling, and is very nice. Some copper and carbon fouling, but rifling in very good shape. He offered my an additional $100, which I said I'd take in store credit, ensuring I'll be back to do business. He liked that. We both think we did ok on this one.

The reviews on the 740 or the 742 aren't any better, the infamous "Jamb-o-matic".

Remington's 760 pumps were not problematic. The 721, 700, 600 bolt rifles are fine too. Every rifle maker has had it's lemons, the Remington semi-autos were theirs.
