40 cal handguns. I never noticed this in the past and I own 4 1911's all Springfield. I wanted to peruse the website, my nephew is going to go to the police academy and I wanted to give him a graduation present in .40 cal handgun as that is what he carries. But I could not find one in their website. Did they stop or never sell .40 caliber handguns?

they sold an EMP in .40SW but it has since been discontinued
as there was not much demand for it.
you may try one of the auction sites.
good luck.

You probably won't find the 40S&W versions in stock on most websites, but as SLICE suggested, some gun auction websites have them for sale NIB, alongside the used offerings.

I never really understood why anyone would make a 1911 in anything other than 45 acp.

Springfield Armory xd40(.40 cal) is my daily carry. They make a variety of model xd40's from carry to target and I love them. Retired my 1971 38 super colt commander. Semi- retired the s&w 1006 (10mm) because it pulls my pants down.

The xd is a long way from a 1911.

Thought he was more interested in the .40, instead of the model.
After rereading the original post, I think you are correct, my appologies.
