ok this actually happened a few weeks ago in my home town ,and I am not ashamed to say I personally know this cop ,because it just confirms my opinion

the officer pulls over a large motor home for speeding just a few miles over {yes you get a ticket for 1mile over ,Illinois} he ask the driver can he search the vehicle ,he responds no get a warrant ,the officer complies ,he makes the guy wait on the road side for another officer to retrieve a warrant ,as time goes by the guy says ,im not going to wait around here all day ,call me a cab ,the dipsh!t cop does it ,the guy goes to Lambert airport in stl. and gets on a plane ,back at the moterhome they go in and find 800 pounds of marijuana

I am not supporting the criminal acts of this man but did they have a real reason to search? Was it Officer Hardin?

A traffic stop in most states becomes unreasonable
as far as detaining a person usually after 20-minutes,
but if this person was unknown to the officer or not a
local then then he may have been hoodwinked, would
have to know the full circumstance in order to give a
valid opinion, I'd give a case of donuts and 2-fifths a
whisky to see his report, can you say sore hiney?
Sure ya can

I don't condone the criminal act ,but in there mind a bust like this justifies the past and future violation of the constitution of so many innocent citizens

tac probable cause has been so manipulated ,it is really no rhyme or reason to use it ,like I said in the past ,

may I search your vehicle

no

probable cause :you must have something to hide

find something they are correct ,and nothing can be done about it
don't find anything ,:well I will let you out of that ticket , most people feel lucky ,not knowing they just got screwed

but ,call me a cab , ok! ,come on that is funny

Why don't we just make it easy for all those poor old underpaid overworked cops out there. Just allow the search of any motor vehicle for any reason without a warrant,at any time... we are soooo close to being there now, what difference does it make.

Even if you haven't done anything the cop calls his buddy the judge and shazzam, search warrant. A cop pulling over anyone for 1 mph over the limit should get the Barney Fife award. The punk in the motor home deserves to go to jail. But I have to ask..what would be the motivation for a cop to stop him in the first place ? and then search a motor home. Something else is going on that we don't know about..and then calls him a cab ???

Postal,

Our local cops just had a similar situation, they stopped two guys, who gave consent to search, and the cops found $480,000 cash in a secret compartment under the trunk! The guys claimed they didn't know it was there? Anyway, the cops released the guys (from out of state) and they promptly disappeared. Kept the money though, which the local pd will split with the feds, according to the news. Our officer Hardins will probably be getting new night vision swat gear, or have one heck of a Christmas party next year.

hammer that is the motivation behind it all ,modern day pirates ,the city adjacent to this one is the worst I have ever seen or heard of ,they teach the new recruits these tactics ,I noticed the older cops don't go for it ,they know better

they are also the highest paid in the state of ill ,and have one officer per 500 people now ,they confiscate new vehicles for a kid have a roach in the ashtray, even homes

this is a town of twenty-five thousand ,they have the best of everything ,D.A.R.E. corvette, 4x4's ,{with no place to use them} ,even a new finger print computer ,no ink anymore ,just place your hand on the screen ,even a swat team the never have to use ,that shows up on domestic violence calls ,{reason to do this to houses}

I don't know the value of this motor home but it will either be a future command center or sold at auction ,not that this particular case doesn't deserve it ,but they already have a quick system set up for the rules of confiscation to extradite the property to them

and this one big bust justifies it all

bondia I had it explained to me like this when I got my two mile over ticket
the speed limit is 45 mph not 46 ,the over allowance is up to the officer ,but not a rule
and you are correct "their buddy the judge"who does a person complain to when they get violated ,all a judge see's 99% of the time is the arrest made ,not the ones that was just your average citizen that got violated ,it appears to the courts like they are doing a great job

Yes......by all means, "LEAVE PEOPLE'S STUFF ALONE".

Stuff to incl., but not limited to: drugs, illegal weapons, child pornography, contraband, stolen property (maybe yours), etc, etc, etc.

Even if the stop of the motorhome was illegal (not proven), and the driver / owner was allowed to leave, the abandonment of the 800 lbs. of marijuana and the RV itself, proves on it's own merit, that something good was accomplished.

Anytime drugs are removed from the system, I see that as a "positive note"!

Time and time again, incidental traffic stops have proven to be some of the most effective crime fighting tecnniques available.

Okay, this is where all you whiners start.......whining. Cry me a river!!!!!!!!!!!!

I have only 2 questions!
#1 What was wrtten on the probable cause affadavit that is required when asking a magistrate for a serch warrant! Cause he wouldn't let me" DUH! That won't fly!
#2 What in God's name was the officer thinking when the suspect (detainee) asked for a cab and the officer hailed one for him DUH!

Sure the LEA is gonna wind up with the motorhome, the dope will be destroyed after the trial! Surely they got proper identification on the suspect! So, I assume there will be a real warrant issued, an extradition, a Grand Jury hearing and a trial.

Probable Cause is everything! In Texas, we can not arrest for speeding as the only violation. The right way to have done it would be, and only if probable cause existed, arrest the suspect for the other violation, ie, expired this or that, dirty license plate light, ya'll know the routene! Then impound the vehile for the owners safety and well being, , Now the vehicle has to be inventoried. Proceeds from a crime are found incidental to a lawfull arrest and inventory of an impounded vehicle. Case closed, officer permoted, Book Um Dano" Everybody goes away happy except the bad guy!

While I've been hassled by cops before here in town, not a one of them has demanded to search my vehicle (probably a good thing too - cause it's VERY, VERY MESSY at the moment).

While I do not agree with some places where a cop can and does violate a citizen's rights by demanding to search a vehicle (and getting a search warrant at a drop of a hat); I have to agree to a degree with what dano1 said. Let's be realistic - I don't care what some here may or may not do but if you violate the law (and marijuana is against the law) and get caught then so be it.

But for the cop to call this guy a cab? Geez!

Considering these spur of the moment searches where tye can search your vehicle just beacause you tell them they can't. The question we need to ask is, does the end justify the mean?

The means being the absolute destruction of our god given rights and liberty by commiting this gross invasion of privacy.

The end being to MAYBE find something that is evidence of a crime.

If the cop don't like your looks or attitude, what are you to do if he drops some of that wacky teebacky under your seat...and says...what have we here?

Of course most cops are honest and wouldn't do something like that would they. But the ones that carry throw down pieces in case they need to justify a bad shooting might. Whats that, cops don't do stuff like that? Yeah, and they don't eat donuts either.

These are scary times we live in. Some cops have that 'its them against us attitude' not a good out look for the honest civilian who doesn't break laws but is subjected to this instant court order action they seem to get out of some judicial ATM machine.

I am not in agreement with the cop in this story, nor his tactics.

what else do you need to know ,I didn't leave anything out ,except the part were the officer later replied he wanted to search the vehicle because the guy "looked suspicious" ,as I told in the original post I personally know the cop , the guy is a idiot always has been since school ,always will be ,you can put a badge on the stupidest a$$hole in the world and it doesn't change a thing

dano pull your head out of your cop a$$ for a minute , re-read the entire thread ,first no one condoned the 800#'s of drugs at all ,no one is talking about child pornography or illegal weapons , apples and oranges ,don't try to cover the original thread by coming up with a bunch of excuses ,I take that statement as a personal insult to me and my friends here

the origin of this thread was my personal knowledge of the stupid cop that actually called this guy a cab while waiting to search his vehicle ,believe me when I say this department is known as the keystone cops ,one of their detectives {I WENT TO SCHOOL WITH } put a gun to a eight year old Childs head telling him to shut up during a drug raid on the parents home ,turned out to be the wrong house ,this made national headlines ,it also cost the city millions ,the officer is now a patrol man ,I lived a few miles away when this happened , I saw the cop on a daily basis and know him well ,he is a jerk and always will be ,when he kills a innocent person because he has always suffered from "little man syndrome" and tries to be a big guy behind a badge , I will say I told you so

Dano, you`s a funny. Sit down for a minute and shave your Glocks beard. My comment on "leaves peoples stuff alone" is simple and has nothing to do with illegal goods as you so put it. It refers to stealing peoples property and nothing more. This line of crime fighting is no different that the IRS stealing property without due process, then forcing the victim....yes victim to prove otherwise, and then usally bankrupting them in the process. In my small town in Texas,(don`t know which State you hail from) this is common pratice and it sickens me. Although drugs do the same to me, the pratice of stealing peoples property, sickens me more.

Our "DARE" program and Drug task force is out of control, and it is in most cities. Removing sums of cash from travelers under the assumption of "It must be for drugs" prove otherwise or loose it......stinks of lawlessness gone corrupt.
I see it everyday in our small town, a car found with a few thousand dollars being carried, it is siezed, then it must be proven "NOT" to be drug money......hard to prove a negative and usally cost more than it`s worth, so your advised to walk away and no charges will be filed. Sickening!

A families car siezed for a roach in the ashtray, even though this is a not a felony......even if that mattered. Absolute power corrupts completely and this is what has happened. You`ll notice I refer to this as stealing, because that is what it is.......it is simply stealing from one to support the habits of others, and it is nothing more. If you wish to put the people in jail for their crime, I will line up right by your side.... But leave their stuff alone!

I have seen decent families ruined over the stealing of their property......simply because of their kids.....but lets not do anything to the kids.....lets ruin their lives and steal their property. Whether they knew it or not, means little and being a responsible parent does not extend into eturnity. I have witnessed many lives destroyed by this feel good law of stealing peoples property.....while the State, County and Local LEO high five each other, then fight for they`re share of the booty. Lets rumble....LTS

I wouldn't call getting offended by accusing some one of condoning drugs or child pornography ,being a "little touchy"

being a cop and getting offended by our discussion of ,other law enforcement agencies violating peoples constitutional rights ,to the point such comments are made ,is being a "little touchy"

No matter where you live in our wonderful free country, you will find at least one LEO in every department that is a half bubble off and has no right to be called a Cop! I've been doing this for over 32 years now, and I have seen my share of COP bloopers. These folks are a danger to their fellow officer and to the general public. One problem we have in small town U.S.A is once cousin Vennie is given his badge, shield, Star, some believe they are 10 foot tall and bullet proof and ABOVE THE LAW No one is above the law and personally speaking, I would rather do a dirty Cop than a crook, cause the Cop knows better and swore an oath to up hold the law and defend the weak! The law is not black and white as some think, it's grey and common walking around sence over 75% of what we do in any given situation and application of the law is the other 25%. The COP in this Senerio has no right to hold the office he does! Nuff said!

I was expressing an opinion, just like everyone else was doing.

Almost every post in ref. to the topic, had a negative slant to it. I was just trying to make that slant, somewhat level.

And......yes, it does make me chuckle somewhat, when forum members get upset and act like they have been personally insulted, because someone else didn't agree with their opinion or point of view.

Afterall, this is just cyberspace. It doesn't mean squat!

Granted, I do like to stir things from time to time. It seems to help the discussion(s).

Does all this make me a "MISCREANT"?

I enjoy visiting various forums, as I do this one. But.....I will not be a member of a "mutual admiration society", and give false praise whenever possible, for any rhyme or reason. If I feel I need to voice a certain opinion, (as many of you do constantly), I want that right as well.

I am a police officer and proud of it. I know there are bad cops out there. Tell me of one profession that is immune from bad apples. It's rather obvious that some forum members take every opportunity to crawl down the throat of any cop whenever an opportunity arises. These are the same people that scream bloody murder when they are "violated" by a bad guy. These are also the same members that proclaim the right to "blow um away," when they are packing firearms. Bunch of bad a$$es indeed! The first time they had a gun pointed at them, or actually had to point their gun at another, they'd end up wetting / soiling themselves.

So......I've said what I felt was needed. Actually, I was just getting started. Anyway, if you all feel that I don't fit in here, just say so. I will respect your wishes. I don't want to be somewhere that I don't feel welcome. If you do "allow" me to stay, do not expect any major changes on my part. I am who I am!

Sincerely, "dano" (possible miscreant)

Cliquish?????

I am not seeing that at all.

I'm afraid I'm not buying this mutual admiration society of certain cops that think most of us would soil our pants if we ran up against a real bad guy. This sort of arrogance is what belies a superior than thou attitude...and clearly shows one could use an attitude adjustment.

As far as cliquish, I've seen this type on other forums predominated by cops, and if you say anything against their tactics...its you against them. No one seems to enjoy criticisms or having short comings pointed out on a public discussion.

The solution would seem to be keep it all on an even keel, don't rock the boat by stirring the waters. Stir the cess pool and you are a shit disturber.

This board forum is very fair and goes out of its way to welcome people to come among us. We are a brotherhood of gun fanciers and lovers of our nation's charters. Many of us have served our nation in time of wars, risking our lives in preserving our democracy and our freedom. We shall continue to do so regardless of what some negative antagonist would expound.

Well thank you very much Mr. Dano for correcting my spelling and most of all grasping the fact that I do take this site seriously. I'm sure if you were around here more, you'd easily see that we are a family and treat newbies the same.

Now, if you want to come in my house and shit in my cheerio's, we'll get personal real fast! I'm sure you wouldn't want any of us here to disrupt you that way.

This particular thread was a personal observation given on behalf of 1 of our founding Staff members. The least you could do is stick with the topic.

I have the upmost respect for our LEO's, a job that certainly takes a lot of patience and self-control. (to be a good Cop)
However, we're all human... and if you can accept that you are welcome to post as much and as often as you like.

Matter of fact I personally wish you would become a part of our family. I'm sure we could learn a lot from one another

dano, I don't think they are clannish or cliquish as you are saying. I just don't think they particularly care for some of the stirring you do.

I like everyone here fairly much equally and I agree that a different point of view needs to be inserted here. Doesn't mean it can't be done. Sometimes though it's just a little harder since we don't have the same amount of posters as over on HCT or *********.

Personally, I tend to agree that a cop who was dumb enough to call the guy a cab shouldn't be holding a badge. But, I've also seen cops who have been run through the mill and still try to do what is right. No particular profession is perfect, no one is above the law (though at times I wonder considering what I've seen in my life) and there are always going to be bad mixed in with any good. See we agree here.

Come to think of it I believe I agreed with some of what you said in your first post.

I watch and read far more than I post on any board (though judging by my post count that might be hard to believe) and of late I have pretty much come to the conclusion that unless it really impacts me I should probably just stay out of the discussion.

I'll defend your right to say what you want - whether I agree with you or not.

Don't believe me, just ask polishshooter or was it gpostal? We are still friends even if we are polar opposites on one certain subject.

Maybe you should wake up and look at what you're shoveling! Please point to ANY message here where someone advocated "blowing them away" if they were carrying. You might also be somewhat surprised to find that quite a number of members here have been in the situation you described, and managed to avoid the need for a change of shorts. I dunno, if I only had a lousy Beretta in a situation like that, I too might have to wipe when it was over...

Hey, dano!

And as much as I like to agree with you BG, I seem to remember a little "Cop Mentality" in one of your otherwise great posts too...

What was it...something like "Cops forgetting they are to protect the "weak..." (??????)

One observation I've made over the years of being on the periphery of MANY Departments in many states is...

Many, not all to be sure, but many, Cops over time begin to only associate socially with other Cops, and begin to see EVERYBODY as either a Cop, Victim, Perp, or potential Victim, or Potential Perp. PERIOD. And everybody NOT a Cop is "them." And it is a short step to "Us VERSUS them."

And in many cases, cops with that "mentality" start to identify more closely with PERPS, than civilian "victims, or potential victims..." Perps sometimes get RESPECT, victims many times only pity, if not disdain from those Cops.

Which is ONE of the reasons there is so much more per capita divorce and other social deviancy, up to and including suicide among LEOs...

THAT is a fact, and I am NOT generalizing, MANY Cops CAN keep things in perspective...but many, and MANY more as a percentage than most cops willingly admit, do not.

Which leads us to the "Good Cop/Bad Cop" scenarios we all know and love to talk about.

It is another SHORT step from that "attitude," combined with a lack of intelligence, an outsized ego, a lack of self-esteem, addiction to the adrenaline rush that RARELY happens in an otherwise generally BORING job, whatever, to produce the "Bad Cop," which thank God, is still a very very small percentage of Cops overall.

But that "attitude," prevalent, or at least present in MOST cops to one degree or another, is what triggers the Pavlovian response to defend the "brother" Cop whenever one is accused, no matter how bad his/her behavior...

NOBODY here thinks Cops are unnecessary, or not to be respected for what they do, BUT...

We refuse to be labeled as "Potential Victims," or "potential Perps," or "Weak."

WE pay your salaries, you WORK for us. Give US the respect WE citizens deserve, and, surprise! It WILL be reciprocated.

JMNSHO.

(And I just might be buying a 1934 Beretta soon...)

first knife fight I was sixteen ,a much older guy pulled it on me ,I managed to draw a weapon took it away by breaking the hand that was holding it, then beat him to the ground ,kept the knife for a souvenir {1981}

first guy pointed a gun at me ,I took it away from him beat him with it, then bit his nose off {1984}

second time two guys together ,knocked one out first, second one got his gun while pulling it out he was sent into unconsciousness {1989}
when I hit both of them split there heads open wide ,then hit the ground and split the other side of their head ,both had to go to the hospital with twin injuries ,then called the police and claimed six guys with pipes beat them up

third time a 6'6" pumped up fresh out of prison felon pulled a knife ,I took it away beat him to the ground ,then drew my Beretta
and commenced to beat him with it until it discharged , and yes I had to change my pants ,in fact I had to throw them away because they were so soaked with his blood {1992}

last one was two years ago {no weapon},I stopped that one with a head but ,that broke the guys nose and surrounding cheek bones ,which has resulted in a 75,000.00 law suit for his hospital bills ,after he just walked up and hit my for a mistaken identity {1999}

Polish! I read and reread your last post several times and what you say hits real close to home. I've been married 3 times in my career. We (LEO's) have a Alcoholism rate and suicide rate that rates in the top 5 professions in the USA! I'm very selective about whom I associate with in my real life. I have very few friends outside of the LE community. I trust no one till they have proven themselves to me. I go into a fit of anger when a weak person is abused or screwed over by a smarter/stronger person who wishes ill will on that person. Yes, I take it personal and often become involved, whether asked to or not. Over the years, Stress has built up to the point I take 5mg dose of Valuim daily to remain calm. I have a battle with anger management. Talk stupid to me in real life may cause a person a trip to the ER. I don't fight fair. I'm a firm believer in Chemical agents. Why hurt my hands when there are other implements to afflict injury available. while a fool is gasping for air to breath or fighting to just see. Nothing in life is fair. There is four things I hate more than anything else in this world. #1 Child and wife abusers, #2 Dirty Cops, #3 People who oppress the weak who can not defend their rights or themselves (bullies) and #4 dope dealers. Being a Cop is a 24 Hr a day job, if someone says they don't take it home with them, their a flat out lier! We do, everyday! I detest stupidity and laziness in LOE's I make light of the Donut thing because it's true. I once called one of my patrolmen in and asked for his resignation because he was at his girlfriends house, taking care of personal business with his portable radio on in stead of patrolling the streets that he was being paid to do. So to sum up my soap opera! The things you stated are true, we as LEO's chose to ignore it or refuse to face the truth. Some hide behind the badge and their gun for their strength. Take that away from some and you will find that they are inept and have a inferiority complex.. These are some that give us all a bad name along with the John Wayne's who are already 10 foot tall and bullet proof!

Polish! I openly agree with your post! A job well done! Above is one of the reasons I try to refrain from getting involved in general discussions about COP issues.

You guys are talking some good shite here, especially an honest good natured cop like BlackGun. Thank you BG, for your candid replies, it is refreshing to see honesty of expression in describing a cops job profile. Being a cop is not an easy road to travel, and I can almost see where some wind up with the 'its them against us' attitude. But all of us as human beings have the responsibility of conducting our lives in a fashion that is fair and honest, one should heed the commandment to 'love thy brother as you would love thy self.' Being a cop that has to deal with the scumbags of society...that commandment is very difficult to follow.

But, the people on this board are not scumbags, well, maybe one or two...but I'm trying to get better...and they deserve to be treated with respect. That's why this is a good board and people enjoy talking to each other, all people who drop in on us are welcome to join in the discussions at any time. There are no cliques as we are all on an even playing field here.

Post on Dano, but please give us our due, and we in return salute and support you.

And lest ANYBODY get the wrong idea, between my cop friends I used to shoot and compete with, and the hundreds if not thousands of Cops from Feds to Special Investigators for State AGs offices, to Postal Inspectors to State, County, Local and even Seneca Nation of Indian Security Officers, the "Good Cops" I've met outweigh the "Bad Cops" or idiots or incompetents I've met by a large factor, and by a factor that is NOT very much different from any other profession, (except maybe attorneys ) whether in business, government, or even the clergy...

And there IS no rhyme or reason...I've met professional, caring, and competent cops on some SMALL departments, and "Barney Fife's" on some large, even nationally renowned departments and agencies...

In fact, one other thing that trips my trigger is "courtesy" or lack thereof BETWEEN cops and agencies...

(See what happens when a local agency doing their best has the OHP come in and "take over" an investigation...for just one example I've seen)

And my dealings with the FBI, or rather, my LACK of dealings with the FBI revolve around their despised "floor limits..."

I've probably called them a dozen times over the past 20+ years trying to interest them in a Missing Bank Deposit investigation where it MIGHT have been construed as "Bank Robbery."

Invariably when they see what we have done, that we are at an impasse, and that there are more than one possible suspect, they ALWAYS at some point ask..."How much is missing?"

And after being told, they say something to the effect that while they would LOVE to help, there is a "floor limit" below which they won't get involved, and EVERY damn time it was "a few thousand" more than we lost...

Funny how it happened EVERY time I called, and each time I called just happened to be HIGHER than the LAST "floor limit" they told me...

But I DO incorporate the first two rules of an FBI investigation into all of mine since I learned them...

#1- First, do NOTHING. (actually a pretty good rule, things have a tendency to settle, or become more understandable after a little time goes by, and people don't go off half cocked right off the bat...and make bad decisions that screw up the later investigation...))

#2- When investigation is unavoidable, pull out ALL the stops, leave NO stone unturned, NO cost saved, ...to try and prove the FBI does NOT have jurisdiction...and only then, if #2 fails, do you start the REAL investigation...(THIS one pees me off...)

And I'm not joking...

jmtcw. I think I posted this some time in the past, but will say it again.

About 8 years ago, my mother ( 57 at the time ) and five other ladies from her church in El Paso, Texas, decided to go accross the boarder into Mexico. Along with these ladies was the pastors wife and great grandchild. On the way back into El Paso, the child became hungry, so, they gave the child an apple to eat. The child, being very young, spit the seeds on the floor of the Brand New Chevy Van. The ladies did not notice this. When they finally got to the check point comming back into El Paso, the boarder patrol officer noticed the seeds on the floor of the van. With out any questions at all, guns were pulled, the dogs were called out and all 6 of the ladies were arrested.

All were carted down town, denied the use of a phone, baby taken by C.P.S. ( Child Protective Services for two weeks ) STRIPPED SEARCHED, ( like I said in the begening, all were mature ladies ) the van was totaly taken apart, the only thing found was 15 seeds, which could not be identified by the great El Paso police dept. The church along with the congregation had to post bail of 5000.00 for each lady, including the pastors wife. All had to go to court, hire a lawyer for another 5000.00 because it took so stinking long to get to court. When it finally did get to court, it was dismissed. But now, all have a felony arrest record. Does not matter that it was dismissed.

All of this for apple seeds. It also cost the pastor another 1000.00 to get the van put back together. The chevy dealer in El Paso gave them a big break on the labor.

What was found out about this boarder patrol agent, in the years that followed, he pulls his gun to often, gives hispanics the benifit of doubt, 90% of the people that he detains are WHITE. If my mother ( Hispanic ) had been driving the new van instead of the pastors wife ( not Hispanic ), would they have been hasseled. If you havent figured it out by now, the officer was Hispanic with the short mans syndrum.

Dont get me wrong about police officers, my father was one for 15 years. I respect them, they have a terrible job to do. But the power that goes with job, I dont think should be applied with " FULL FORCE AT ALL TIMES ".

This was and is a gross missuse of power.

Here's my understanding of cops as a general rule.

Cops are the ones that knock on your door and tell your boyfriend to beat up on you instead of chasing the juvenile delinquent away from letting the air out of his car tires.

Cops are the ones that pull you over and try to say you are a hooker on Halloween when you are going to a costume party.

Cops are the ones that when you best friend gets raped - blame her because she's too pretty.

Cops are the one that pull you over because your pickup truck looks suspicious (personally I think he was trying to show off to the young boy riding with him - and boy did that kid look like a perfect brown shirt - Hitler youth for those that can't remember those stories).

That's my experience with most cops. Do I hold it against the general profession? No, because I know that my experience is but one persons and that they can't be all that way.

Am I dumb for still believing that 90%+ of the cops around are good ones? Maybe, and maybe I'm living in a dream world. But until one can prove me 100% wrong I'll continue to try and support the police force in general (not necessarily certain individual people in a police force).

In other words - everyone take a chill pill.

For what it's worth I think that most people don't ever have any positive exposure to LEO's. It's almost alway's negative. You never call a cop unless something bad has happened. If you get pulled over it's always a stressful situation.

But what are you going to do ? I guess cities could have a get to know a cop day or some crazy shit like that.....

Get to know your cop day. When I was in the Army one year during the Armed Forces Day celebration A group of us was joking with a State Trooper at his display he had set up. We were checking out his car and I asked him why he had a cup holder and not a donut holder. That guy got so mad he didn't know what to say. I was just joking, he wanted to kill me.

Cop's Bullet Grazes Boy at School
Wed Feb 6, 8:44 PM ET
PHILADELPHIA (AP) - A 10-year-old boy was grazed in the right cheek by a bullet when an off-duty police officer conducting a school demonstration dropped her gun Wednesday, officials said.

The boy was released after treatment at Temple University Children's Medical Center, hospital spokeswoman Jennifer McGowan said.

The officer had shown the magazine clip to the class at Imani Education Circle Charter School and had just put it back in the gun when she dropped the weapon, Principal Francine Fulton said.

Police department spokesman Sgt. Roland Lee declined to name the officer who joined the department in 1996. Her child was among the 23 students in the class at the time, he said.

You all been watchin too many movies, or attending too many gun classes with a smarta$$ teaching them.

I am kind of curious. What part of gun safety did the "slide removal" portion, fall under?

I believe that I was misunderstood.

I know for fact that the slide on a Beretta can be removed from the muzzle end, by other than the person holding the gun. I've done it many times.

What I am saying, is that a person would be a certified fool to try it while the gun was loaded, thinking he could disable it quick enough before the person holding it could react.

Can you say one shot, "CENTER MASS"?

but I saw remo Williams do it !

I did see that on the history channels as a major complaint ,with the opponents of having a Beretta as a duty and military weapon ,while it is physically possible ,providing you know the weapon well ,and might be able to pull the stunt during a good struggle ,I look at it is no more of a good argument than sticking your finger it a gun barrel

I think it was a bunch of propaganda made up by glock {stir,stir}

now take some S&W auto's get close enough to hit the magazine release ,same result ,no mag no fire

Even though I think Berettas make the best doorstops in the firearms world, IF you screw them to the floor first...(except the M934, I did kinda like that one... )...

(I had to preface my remarks with something about Berettas or Dano would think I was making kissyface... )

I understand what dano is saying...

If you jam your palm or fist against the front of the slide/barrel/bushing of a .45 Browning pattern hard enough to take it back a little out of battery, it won't fire either...and I've heard people say THAT as a reason to denigrate the "God of War..."

But they never quite take in account the defensive technique of the "Speed Rock..." which entails a quick step BACK...

And also I had an old boy tell me years ago of a yahoo he knew years before right after the war, that was demonstrating all the "safeties" on a Gov't, how it wouldn't shoot, and the last one was that one...he pushed back on the end of the barrel with his open hand, and pulled the trigger and BLAM...neat .45 hole, cauterized and everything, if a little black around the edges, right through the center of his left hand...the guy said he drove him to the hospital and dropped him off, and drove away, didn't want to let ANYBODY know he knew somebody that stupid....

Tuckerd1, no thanks is necessary. It's part of my responsibility to stir, no matter, when, where, why, how, or who.

LTS, me thinks you be in denial, and I'm not talking about that river in Egypt!

If you only tried a BERETTA, you would realize instantly, it's the best danged production handgun in the world.

Of course, it would take a BIG MAN to admit that!

Informed people know that about BERETTAS. Just ask Ms. TLynn!!

Long live BERETTA.........and dano!

Has bayreta ever fixed that little problem they had on their pistols? Ya know, the one where someone grabbing the slide from the front and with finger and thumb pressure can completely remove the slide in one pulling motion.

Certain pins and stuff to put pressure on with thumb & finger.
Instructor in a small arms class in Phx showed us how it was done, didn't do it personally.

Just show me one nimrod that would stand in front of me, with my loaded BERETTA, and attempt to remove the slide from my BERETTA. It ain't gonna happen.

You all been watchin too many movies, or attending too many gun classes with a smarta$$ teaching them.

I am kind of curious. What part of gun safety did the "slide removal" portion, fall under?

BTW: We aren't that far away from 100 posts!
