I picked up a taurus model 82 revolver and was wondering if anybody could tell me when it was made. The serial # is 1454008. Also could anybody tell me what C.A.I. stands for that is stamped on the gun?

Can't help with dating your Taurus, other than that the model was introduced in 1971 (as per Gun Traders Guide). C.A.I. is an importers marking for Century International Arms. If I am not mistaken, this would seem to date your Taurus to pre 1984. When Taurus established themselves in the U.S. as their own importer.

There's been alot of Taurus 82's imported in the last year from some foreign police or security agency. They're marked CAI, the main importer, and have been showing up lots of places. Most I've seen have shown outer wear, but seemed to lock up great and looked they hadn't been shot all that much.
I think they could be 80's or 90's guns.
