HB1911 was approved by the House Committee on Homeland Security, and moved to the House floor for a vote.

HB 1911 is a steaming pile of crap that ties your right to carry to your taxes among other things
    Phil King can shove it

HB375 is true CC and King has tried to kill it and push HB1911 instead

Call his office and tell him to get HB375 out of committee for a vote

We have been calling all day and encouraging other to do so

Not to hijack the thread, but I have tried to email members of Congress in other states and the congress's email system blocks out of district urls. So you cannot email someone else's congressmen/women.

I also tried the Speaker's email, same issue. I get that they don't want out of district trolls bombarding them, but I learned this when I tried to email a Democrat congressman from Missouri to complement him on a position he took on O'Reilly one night. His email system wouldn't accept my email, so I did some checking and it seems to be that you can't email outside your district.

Back to CC in the Great State of Texas....

And it looks like we will get a vote on HB1911

    Not what I wanted
Word is that they fixed alot of problems with it in committee so we will see
I have not read it with the amendments

It looks like we will get a CC bill passed in Texas this session

HB375 was the best bill but Phil King managed to kill it and not letting it out of committee

Here is some verbage from the CC bill we are getting a vote on

Requirements to carry without a license are as follows:

    (1) is a legal resident of Texas for 6 months...
    (2) is at least 21 years of age
    (3) has not been convicted of a felony
    (4) is not CHARGED with the commission of a Class B misdemeanor or higher
    (5) is not a fugitive from justice for a Class B misdemeanor or higher
    (6) is not a chemically dependent person
    (7) is not incapable of exercising sound judgment
    (8) has not, in the past five years, been convicted of a Class B misdemeanor or higher
    (9) is fully qualified under applicable federal and state law to purchase a handgun
    (10) is not delinquent in making a child support payments
    (11) is not delinquent in taxes or other money collected by the State of Texas
    (12) is not currently restricted under a court protective order or subject to a restraining order affecting the spousal relationship ship
    (13) has not, in the past 10 years been had a felony adjudicated.

    ---------------
#4 is total bull--- charged? really.. anyone can get charged with a crime
    #7 disqualifies all democrats!:D

I just don't like them tying the paying of taxes and child support to the "right" of self defense

Not that I am for people who miss child support payments but I can imagine there may be times when a guy is down and out and can't keep current and by this law, he can't carry legally

I'm confused... What does this even mean? "Is not charged"?

And then on line 8 it says "has not, in the past five years, been convicted of" (the same)

So are they saying that you may not CC if you've ever been charged, or if you have been a good boy for eight years?

I would love to have seen HB375 go through, but this bill is better than nothing... AT least for now!

Wonder what the penalty would be for carrying while being behind in child support?
