    Early one day last fall,
    In my heart a timeless pall;
    As answering that compelling call,
    Read again on that long cold wall;
    Charles Crandall has paid his all!

    For his Country and for the "Corps,"
    He gave his heart and more;
    On that far away Eastern shore.
    Revere him in legend and lore;
    "Doc" Crandall, Hospitalman-8404.
