    --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
More than a quarter of a century has passed ----

    The nightmares have faded
The memories have grown fuzzy around the edges.
I am strong - I can take it.
The parking lot is jammed with pickup trucks, Harleys, cars.
The heat shimmers across the field, 105 degrees.
Old men and families, grizzled bearded bikers, forgotten loners.
The black wall stands before me
A sense of alarm starts in the pit of my stomach.
    Approaching, the names become legible
    The pain wells, I cry.
My eyes blurr, as I wipe them, I feel a hand on my shoulder.
A fellow in uniform, Bronze Metal - one leg.
"They died honoring our Country - we live honoring them"
We shook hands and smiled. A sad smile --
My wife leads me away - a sense of healing replacing the pain.

More than a quarter of a century has passed ----

Bob, I saw it in Watertown N.Y. years ago. It is truly a work of art and living history.
I fear we have awaked a sleeping giant and filled it with a terrible resolve. Jap. Admiral Yamamota directly after Pearl Harbor. If the women don't find you handsome, at least they should find you handy. Red Green. I am the ILLUSTRIOUS POTENTATE!

This is not meant to be disrespectful but I've seen it twice and felt -0- emotion. Guess I'm still repressing it all.

    SFreedom,
Made it to the 'Big One" in DC? It's a big time cryin' time. But, YOU have to be ready for it or the trip may be wasted. For me it was like visiting a most holy shrine.
Our brothers who died ARE there. Hope you get the chance
to get your feelings to surface. Not fun at the time, but lots better later on. I was able to go in '89.

I have always desired to see the wall. I feel it was built to bring people together after so much had torn them apart. Hopefully, someday the wall that is traveling will come close to where I am and I'll get to experience it.

To all of you who served, I offer my most sincere gratitude and heartfelt thanks.

I am from a generation that was not called upon like many of you were and I am often saddened and ashamed by our lack of respect for the veterans who fought for the freedoms we enjoy and take for granted.

I have been to the big wall and I was touched by the sacrifices of generations before me.
