Today I took a gun off my wish list and made it a reality, a Sig P229 Legion. It feels so good in my hand. My wife held it for about 5 seconds, said "wow this feels amazing... how much?" So I told her the truth and prepared for the wrath, what I got instead was, "When are we going to the range, I can't wait to shoot it." Me too. It's going to be a struggle to wait until this weekend.

The P-229 is one of those guns that I kick myself for trading off.
I had one and needed money to feed the babies and sold several guns and then sold my P229. After that, I told my wife I will never sell a gun again. I have since bought many, many more guns and replaced the P229 as well. It was actually the first gun I bought when I had the money and haven't sold any since.

Is that in the .40 cal or the 357??

I have a Sig 229 in .40. My favorite is the Sig 227 in 45 which is one of my EDC's. I enjoy the decocker system to keep it in DA mode for the first shot. Many, tactically prefer SA mode for the first shot, but it works well for me.

You will enjoy the Sig quality for sure. Great guns.

Ahhh, OK, I looked it up. It is a 9mm!! Interesting.

Congratulations! That is a great gun. My neighbor's daughter has a 229 she bought and wanted me to teach her how to shoot it and field strip for cleaning. I don't shoot 9mm but when the time comes for me to scale down to 9mm because of arthritis 2 guns I have in mind to carry will be my wife's Walther PPQ or just buy a 229. I'm very impressed with the Sig.

I handled one just like that once and knew instantly that it would make the perfect carry gun for me, but just too much $. Very nice. Congratulations.

I make do with a Sig P250sc and am very comfortable with its dao. If you have ever found yourself in tunnel vision with its accompanying loss of some fine motor skills, you could then appreciate not having a carry gun with too light of a trigger.

I haven't owned the Legion version, but the 229s have been a favorite of mine since shortly after they were introduced. I've had a .40 and 9mms, Sport version in .357 SIG, and the M11-a1. Still have a couple in 9mm. The 229s are just good, solid, reliable little guns.

Original P229 in 357Sig bought in 1998, still my ccw in a belt slide. Never failed but the caliber did not catch on like I hoped it would so the ammo is expensive at best. I did get a "Firedragon" .40 caliber barrel for it, that I fired 2 mags through (again with no fail) before putting the .357 barrel back in. Just a real comfortable feel on the hip. You will not regret it.
