Is there a way to determine production date ranges by the serial # for VZ 24 mauser ser# **52B4 ?

You're going to make me work for this one.
It was reworked at one time, I can't make out the letter prefix on the smaller serial number. Is it an E or F? Anything left of the crest that was filed on?
The decoder ring is confused too. Suffix numbers like your B4 in the serial, were production "block" codes. They could range from blocks of 10,000 to 100,000. Suffix predated the prefix letters. Right now, best I can tell, this was in the last blocks of VZ-23's, that were fitted with VZ- 24 stocks, and set for export. Country exported to looks to have fallen into the Japanese contract, and might explain the filed crest. DOM is a guess, but I think sometime in the 1936-1938 time frame. It's got a story to tell.
