I have a .223. 243, .260, and .308 AR rifles and want to change the .243 to something else. My question is what can I change it to that I don't have, and how does a gunsmith do it? BTW, I have a .338 Federal on the way. Thanks everyone, but all those are in the same neighborhood.

Not sure about the AR but thinking you could change it to 22-250 or 7mm- 08 with a barrel change. I don't see why you couldn't/

How about the 260 Remington. Just need a new barrel. Why not get a new upper and keep both calibers? Sorry, didn't see 260 on your list.

243 is in the 308 family so 7mm08 might work. Why another caliber that's a whisper and a hair different than what you already have? You want something that's actually different get another upper for 50 Buewolf, 450 Bushmaster or 458 Soccom.

Sell the .243 and buy a rifle in the caliber you want. I have no clue as to caliber....according to your list, you have almost all the bases covered.

Thanks everyone for the ideas. I have a 6.5 Creedmoor in a Thompson Center Icon, and love it. I may very well go with that in an AR. Again, Thanks.

One of my favorites. Can use those 308's and convince them to go 7-08. Heavy enough for a little wind and the ballistics to be super sonic at 1500 meters.
