What guns?
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Does anyone know what are the most frequently (or most effective) used guns in the semi-auto categories of the IDPA?
Will be buying a gun inthe near future, and would like to use it
competitively.

Custom Defense Pistol class has the most competition. The pistol must be .45 ACP caliber and can include the features of the "modern 1911".
Enhanced Service Pistol division is for single-action autos in calibers from 9mm to .40 S&W. This would include the Browning Hi-Power, CZ-75, TZ-75 and 1911 styles.
Stock Service Pistol includes a multitude of double-action pistols such as Glock, Berretta, Tarus, and S&W.
Just take your pick and make sure you are able to get a good concealment holster for your new weapon. Then practice.

Thanks, shooter45-
My fault, I needed to be more specific. I know the categories and options. What I was looking for was the handguns that were the most successful (winners) in the categories. Do certain guns stand out more than others or is it a mish-mash of different guns winning? I realize the the shooter has most of
the input in the matches and personal preference is a factor. I was just wondering if certain guns are showing up more than others.

OK. I shoot CDP class and the winner usually has a Kimber or Springfield. Glock usually wins the double-action class followed by Browning Hi-Power. I hope this helps.
