I was watching Tales of the Gun from History Channel on Youtube on semi automatic pistols and it stated that nearly 1000 police departments in the U.S. issue the Beretta 92.

I know the LAPD used to several years ago. But that was all I knew of.

What other departments???

Any small town with a 1 man police dept counts, so start driving the backroads of Iowa, Nebraska, Missouri, Minnesota, Florida, Arkansas, etc. etc. etc.
I know my old town allowed a set $ amount for the police chief to buy whatever sidearm he wanted. If it cost 2 times that amount they paid the rest out of their pocket. But, they could shoot whatever they chose. Some towns figure the military knows what is good so they chose the Beretta 92 series for their police departments. I know I have seen a couple of cops here and there packing 92s, can't remember where specifically.

Isn't the 92 the civilian version of the M-9?

Most of the LEO's I know in Florida carry .40's and .45's

seemed like from the early 1990s up until about 5-10 years ago everything was about Beretta or Glock. Now it seems like it's all about either Glock or Sig. Has Beretta fallen out of favor?
