Why are triple base propellants not used in conventional firearms? They negate the muzzle flash when they are used in heavy weapons systems such as tanks or naval vessels so I would think that this would be attractive for use in small arms. Does anyone know why this is?

I have heard explanations ranging from the cost of the nitroguanidinium in the triple base powder to its possible health impacts to the slow rate of its burn being responsible for its lack of use in small arms. Does anyone know, for sure, why it isn't used in small arms?

I was unaware of the Advent of triple base propellants. I'm sure there's quite a few good reasons, however, price may not be one of them. I'm sure if it were better somebody, somewhere, would have made and/or sold it for people.
