I have a 1892 Eclipse Gun Co. Hercules Compressed steel double barrelled shotgun. In good condition, both hammers and triggers work and it opens with a breeze for reloading. about 85% original finsih left on the good and the woo is about 90 percent. Im pretty sure the gun still fires, I dont know if thats safe or not yet ive never shot it.as I said Eclipse Gun Co. is written all over the hilt and the barrel of the gun, along with compressed steel and its patent December 20th 1892. Also the stock is cracked but not alot. Some value is better than no value. Thank you for your time

The gun is Belgian; there is some info on the net, but too much to repeat here. I suggest a Google search on "eclipse gun" for more info. Compressed steel and fluid steel were names for Bessemer processed steel that was rolled or compressed to remove blowholes. It is solid steel, not Damascus, but I recommend against firing any of those old inexpensive shotguns, even with black powder loads.
