1911s OVERRATED?

An AK can be accurate, I imagine, if built right. Brandon Herrera, despite his lack of filtered vocabulary, has proven that multiple times. The 1911 is incredibly accurate and many people have proven that many times. I've become reasonably proficient with mine, and as you might expect I won't own one chambered for anything other than 45 automatic, because at that point it could be argued it's no longer a 1911.

I've got a standard GI-spec Auto-Ordnance model that's only a year or two old, and while the frame and slide rattle against each other just a hair, the barrel must be set pretty tight against the slide because I've never had any issues. As another, more-skilled-than-myself shooter once told me, as long as the barrel is fitted properly to the slide, then you shouldn't have an issue, since the slide is where the sights are.

To be fair, some of them make at least some sense out of it.

Colion Noir at least, while he doesn't carry a 1911 platform because "I've never heard of anybody who's been in a gunfight who said they wished they had fewer bullets", raves about how his 1911's shoot when he takes them to the range, and absolutely loves them for what they are.

John Lovell of Warrior Poet Society focuses mostly on the fact there's a thumb safety if memory serves, which is kind of a fair point, but he's no doubt well aware that training can be a big help with that. And when he did a 1911 testing video, he used one with strange rubber grips that weren't the best for shooting proficiency. He also used the currently popular "iscocseles"(can't quite spell that, apparently) stance and the accompanying high-riding grip that everybody gets taught on their Glocks and M&P Shields instead of the traditional "teacup" grip with angled stance that works better with a 1911 or revolver.

I think "Outlaw" guntubing channel liked his 1911 as well, but was running one in 9x19 for some strange reason.

I agree with that. I watch a lot of YouTube and some of those guys make me look and sound intelligent. :ROFLMAO: I don't think I'm particularly dumb but I do look and sound the part. :ROFLMAO: Be glad I don't type like I talk it would sound like gibberish.:ROFLMAO:
Lol, WhistlinDiesel makes most of the rest sound like old-school pre-woke Harvard graduates, at least when he's in front of the camera.

The 1912's are VASTLY better !!!
R.M.S. Titanic?

My only problem I think about with carrying my 1911 45 cals with the 8 rd capacity is NOT if I encounter a 1 on 1 confrontation but in a mall or other large store trapped in an area that has no rapid means of escape and is going to be a shoot out for survival against an AR or AK. I usually carry 7+1 in my mags and have a spare mag on my belt. Now with my 9mm CZ I have 16+1 and a spare mag with the same capacity. I might be thinking wrong, but feel I have a much better escape possibility.
Assuming you can use it well, I'd say you're thinking right. 9x19 isn't much, but if somebody's weak enough to think shooting up a crowded area is ok, they're probably weak enough that it'll be a bit more than a bee sting.

Well, I don't believe he needs to 'lawyer' too much anymore.

Collins Idehen Jr. (his real name) fired his first gun in 2011. He originally admitted he he wondered why this, (quote) “inanimate object caused him so much pause and fear.”

Well that didn't last long and shortly thereafter he created the alias 'Colion Noir' and began posting videos about how to navigate life as a city-dwelling gun enthusiast.

After earning his degree in 2012 He moved to Dallas and somehow managed to 'hornswaggle' himslef into a job as a paid commentator for NRATV.

He is no doubt a controversial figure in the 'gun world' - hated by some (including his own 'people') and respected and revered by others.

I am not passing judgment but I suspect there are some 'colorful' reasons for his fame...
He gets into the legality of various things a bit, which is nice, and has mentioned that various high-profile anti-gunners will back out of debates as soon as they find out he's on the other side. Whether that's all part of a show, I couldn't tell you. What I can tell you is, I don't watch many of his range videos as he leans more towards the "tacticool" side of things, but his 2A news videos are pretty good. Didn't know he had a different real name. Warrior Poet Society seems to be another decent one to watch, albeit also with "tacticool" weapons, but if you want something more along the lines of just hunting and ballistics videos, you can't go wrong with Ron Spomer Outdoors and Who-Tee-Who.

Unfortunately probably 95+% of those who carry a sidearm will never KNOW how many shots they need to 'end a problem' as they will NEVER use their gun in a self defense situation but regardless the average number of shots that are used in self defense is typically 3 or less.

I have read this over the years in reports of self defense scenarios.
Perhaps unfortunate that we can't know ahead of time, but a great blessing that most of us never need to find out. :)

I watch "The Fat Electrician" on YouTube. A guilty pleasure I admit. A little funny, a lot educational some adult language. Has a good video on the 1911/.45 automatic cartridge. Like a history lesson you pay attention to.
Anti-Cow Projectile. Yeah, I've seen all his videos too, unless he's uploaded one today, in which case I have some catching up to do.

You only need 15+ rounds of 9mm because it lacks the efficiency of the .45 acp! I’ll take one of my .45 or .357 rounds over a cop / gang a banger 9mm any day ☠
45 Anti-Cow Projectile according to the Fat Electrician, haha. Also called 45 automatic by Hornady and Winchester. Hornady says the 45 Automatic Colt Pistol is the pistol itself, but I've not seen anything about that when looking closer. Got into the habit of calling it 45 auto anyway though, haha.

I carry a 1911 on my side everywhere I go. With 4 extra mags in mag pouches on my side.
I have used it in combat and know what it will do.
If anybody thinks that it is not any good just ask the ones that died by one in WW1, WW2 and so on.
And for those that say "But you have too reload every 8 rounds" that to me says "We need body bags for 8 dead"
Better to hit what you're aiming at with 7+1 from a steel-framed American icon than miss every time because Austrian plastic leads to more recoil, heh?
